Just read the vault is being removed in expac with a conquest cap increase . I assume there will be a different method to obtain gem slots for gear unless gems are removed they change stuff all the time .
I know Blizz has never cared about pvp so whats the point to this ??

So pve players don’t feel obligated to run pvp for vault slots and to motivate pvpers to play pve would be my guess.
Yeah when I read it, it let all the air out of my tires. Time to move on I guess.
praying we dont have to cap pve vault to get sockets

They could make gem slots and if so inclined PvP exclusive gems purchased with conquest at the vendor, but I think PvP specific gems will be crafted by players. With the removal of PvP earned vault rewards it was said that conquest will be earned in larger quantities than now from matches won(possibly more earned from close games that are lost and quests, not sure about that).
If we can earn 2 or 3 pieces per week easy enough from doing content that’s an improvement, because conquest spent on what you choose is better than great vault RNG for one of those pieces.

There’s an item on the beta that allows you to put gems on PvP pieces of gear. No idea how those will be acquired, but since it’s usable on only PvP pieces, it’s safe to assume we’ll be able to use PvP currency to buy it.
Other than that, with the removal of vault, I wonder how PvPers will be able to upgrade their Conquest gear’s PvE ilvl past the Champion track. Buying the gear from the vendor starts it off as Champion track ilvls and the only way to get gear past that is through the vault the higher your rating is.

The vault was never a good system, it’s too rng. Having certain players get lucky in the first couple weeks and get a weapon was a large advantage. Increasing the cap and removing the vault is a good thing

I believe jewelcrafters in TWW can make pvp specific gem slots.

The reason stated when it was announced months ago was to remove the RNG element from the PvP gearing process.
They will be providing faster conquest gains to compensate for the loss of weekly vault gear, which should net you the same, if not more, upgrades at faster rate.
Yes. they removed our vault potential of gaining a 500-1800 piece per week for an INCREASED Conquest bonus of 50 + per week. Coming out to 700 ish by week 11. OH MY IM SO HAPPY BLIZZ removed my vault
It does not. Reddit has a graph showing it’s much, much slower.
I do both pve and pvp so if they did force me to do pve i wouldn’t really care.

Honestly who cares if it’s slower. That’s a weird mental thing if the actual enjoyment someone takes away from this game is the speed in which they get the gear
If everyone is on the same playing field regarding gear and the people who play 24/7 are getting gear at roughly the same rate week to week as the people who play 5 hours a week, then it doesn’t matter
Faster gear does not equal more fun, it equals more inequality in the gear that everyone has
My favorite times in pvp are the first few weeks of season 1. Almost everyone is in the same gear, you don’t have to deal with people sitting in games with 1/3 the health as an average person doing nothing all game

This is an overall good thing. It prevents the nonlife’s that make a bunch of characters so they can farm there weapon the first week to get an unfair advantage and get ranked up faster. Equal playing field is always a plus let’s just hope they can do better balancing.

Even if they buffed it to 200 per week extra. that still barely equates to a lil more than a weapon. They gotta keep that time played metric
Wouldn’t it be great if conquest gear just slowly upgraded from rated PvP kills
They time gate it so everyone has a chance to compete.
Hadn’t even considered rolling a half dozen or more of the same spec to try to get a weapon week one. In DF I looted my BiS PvP weapon week one season 2 on Ret and on my hunter got a weapon week 1 season 3 but it had the “wrong” secondary stat. Kept my haste above the recommended spec minimum at least. Replaced it last for a Mastery weapon a week or two ago, just had to pop in some Haste/Mastery gems and 2 Haste ring enchants to get to 16% outside of PvP to maintain focus regen. Gonna try replacing ring enchants or a couple gems to target 15% haste in PvP combat and scoop up a little more Mastery.
I don’t either I don’t have the time for that lol but I like that they got rid of vault I think it will help a lot.
