PVP Talents in 10.0

Based on the interview with Holinka the PVP talent system is staying which I think is a mistake. Just bake them into the new Talent Trees and make them accessible in all content.

No.

PvP talents are designed as zany overpowered abilities that only make sense in a PvP context (or open world which doesn’t matter).

Not all of them are OP. Some of them are just abilties we lost in the various pruning cycles that used to be available in PVE.

Do people want Blizzard to actually nerf a lot of these cool fun abilities into irrelevance to fit them into PvE? Because that is what will happen.

The whole point of PvP talents is that cool abilities were removed from the game because they weren’t a fit in PvE but they’re kind of iconic or cool and Blizzard wanted to let players play with them in a context where they wouldn’t break the game.

You mean like they’ll likely nerf some of the best Legendary abilities and/or Set Bonus’ that will inevitibly get put into the new Talent Trees? That’s what happened going from Legion to BFA for many specs.

There are a number of PVP talents that would be very welcome and fit well into PVE.

But some are. Its wrong too to remove/nerf to irrelevance pvp talents so a handful can be used in pve

I agree some talents like divine favor and bop giving a 30% physical damage reduc for 6 seconds should be baseline because they’re minimal, but things like frostbolts do 75% more damage, build an ice wall that could completely alter m+ routes, cleanse every debuff on every single player within 40 yards of you (completely busted in pve). We shouldnt lose those things

Imagine ray of hope and ult sac in pve just nullifying ever needing to care about tank stacks lol
Radiance instant cast and healing increased by 150%? Priest solo healing raids

Some of the talents would work in PVE, and some are just fundamentally broken or too strong in that type of content.

A change like that can’t just happen in a vacuum is really how it is.

I’ve always thought it was dumb to have access to certain spells and abilities only sometimes. I feel like everything should be baseline, I don’t want greyed out spells on my bar.

Yes, that is literally what will happen. And that sucks. No PvPer wants some of the fun/cool abilities to lose what makes them unique when they’re nerfed to fit the paradigm of PvE.

PvP Talents are perfectly fine. They allow players to have high-impact abilities that wouldn’t otherwise fit the game in PvE. PvP talents work. There is absolutely no reason to change what is working.

Yea, there’s no worse feeling than having a PvP talent, then losing it when you turn off WM or leave the PvP instances. What a pain.

Meh, I’ve always preferred the game to be as universal as possible. I don’t agree with any silo’ing of abilities based on content outside of CC duration.

wrong!

pvp talents were removed in pve because pver’s had too many buttons to press. they did this during their great prune they did in wod/legion.

pvper’s are always good players and having to press 3 extra buttons isn’t much of a issue so they get their own buttons.

the talent reee is whats selling the expansion for me and the wod pvp system coming back.

I’d prefer to just have the old system of talents and glyphs with PVP tuning and no honor talents but some of the ones they put in the game really would be whacky in PVE

Then all I can say is that I’m glad Blizzard doesn’t agree with you. I think the idea that PvP should be less fun because PvEers want everything catered to them is one of the stupidest ideas I’ve ever heard of. PvP already suffers enough because of the whims of the raid team, heck it is literally why I stopped PvP’ing in the first place.

And doesn’t actually balance the class in PvP at all, like all those weak pvp specs could use a good pvp talent to bring it up, but it doesnt happen.

Maybe instead of removing the PvP talent system altogether, some talents are pulled out of the PvP system and made baseline. Some abilities were pruned too much, and I hate they’re locked behind PvP.

PVE has also always suffered because of PVP needs so it goes both ways.

There are numerous PVP talents that would fit well in PVE and wouldn’t need much (if any) modifications that would work niecely in the new Trees.

When?

Now imagine how great pve classes will be balanced when pallies have lay on hands every 30 seconds for the entire group, frost mages do 75% more damage than they currently do, pallies can dispel all 20 people in the raid at the same time every 8 seconds, fights no longer require 2 tanks because every 1 or 2 minute ray of hope and sac from priests and pally can negate stack damage, and disc priest radiance is instant cast and heals everyone in the party for 150% increased healing
Pve mechanics would actually be completely irrelevant
