PvP Stat Templates & Marks of Honor Vendors for Transmog Sets in BFA

Hi there, I thought I would just make a discussion post to see what the thoughts of other people were on these topics.

  1. PvP Stat Templates: In Legion, there were PvP Stat Templates, which would auto-scale people to a certain item level, if they were under that number. If they were at the ilvl number, or went over, they received a stat increase boost for every 10 item levels I believe. This made PvP SO much more accessible to people and different characters. Even though I mained a Mage in Legion, I was still able to hop on my DH, Hunter, Rogue, etc, and be viable in battlegrounds/arenas. This is not the case in BFA. I main a mage, so that character has somewhat decent gear and is viable. However, it takes a significant amount of time to gear every character to an adequate level. For example, entering my 132k hp rogue into a bg, would just be stupid, because the character is way under geared in comparison to people with 400k hp plus. I was wondering if this system would be in consideration to return to the game, as it made PvP so much more accessible and gave players more variety of gameplay choices. Not to mention, it was just plain fun playing multiple different classes/specs. The only critique I had with the Legion system, was how trinkets could not be used. If trinkets could be used, then I think it would be fantastic.

  2. Marks of Honor Vendors for BFA PvP Armor Sets: Also in Legion, the Combatant and Gladiator (regular, not elite) sets were available for purchase after the season ended for 12 Marks of Honor each. This made it simple to get the pieces after the season had ended, in case one missed out on it. However, in BFA there have not been those vendors. I was curious if a vendor like this, for transmog purposes, would have the possibility of making it into the game? For example, the warfront gear is still accessible from both Stromgarde & Darkshore, so that isn’t really an issue. But, if a player didn’t collect all the pieces from previous BFA seasons, there is literally no way to obtain those sets. For the elite Gladiator sets, that makes sense for them to be limited edition, because they require a certain rating, etc. However, the regular sets are desired by many (including myself) and have missing pieces. Also, it would give people something new to use marks of honor for.

  1. Legion templates were horrible. There was no way to customize the stats. You were stuck with whatever Blizzard gave you for your spec. It was like wearing a size 7 shoe when your foot is a size 12. Templates only felt good if they were the right fit for your spec.

  2. Players have been begging for PvP vendors since the launch of BfA. The current system is just plain stupid. Imagine going to Home Depot to get shovel and discover you can’t because shovels won’t be on sale for two more weeks. However, this week you have a choice of hammers.

If Shadowlands doesn’t get PvP right, there will be many, many unhappy customers.

They stated there will not be vendors full stop. Might change in shadowlands but I doubt it since they have the choice of a couple pieces of loot instead of one from weekly chests. With knowing that, adjustable templates would be amazing especially for alts.

I disagree completely with stat templates. Yes, it was not customizable, but I never found that to be an issue of doing damage/healing. I could consistently go into a battleground with a spriest, dh, mm hunter, mage, ww monk, and do good damage that, in most cases, topped charts. Gear didn’t matter as much back then, and it was more based around how one knew their class, aka skill.

I agree the current PvP gear system is stupid. I would like to see a system similar to Mists or Warlords re-implemented. They need to listen to the players and just put one in. I was more so referencing vendors for previous transmog sets, but I agree with this as well.

One of the many issues with Templates was the fact that an ideally built Character with correct break points within secondary stats, felt completely different inside a BG/Arena (Instanced PVP) compared to World.
Make sense?

you lost control of breakpoints when they removed reforging.
