PvP Spriests (Haste)

Hai Spriest brothers and sisters. What Haste % are you running in PvP this season? I have all Relentless haste offset, sitting at 10% haste, but it still feels a bit low. What about you guys?

I had 8% last season but had 9% at one point and that felt like the sweet spot for me. I have 10.4% now and I really like it. You could go higher but you’ll sacrifice spirit. I have 360 mp5 with the spirit I have now and I think any lower than that would be too low but idk I haven’t tried anything higher than 10%. Having black magic weapon enchant helps a lot too whenever it procs. I also run 10% in disc or 4% plus the 6% you get from talents and that feels perfect to me imo.

What’s your mana per 5 sec at with full haste off set? I just have haste bracers plus the pvp haste trinket and a couple haste gems.

Thanks for the reply and feedback!

I am currently running 5 piece Deadly Mooncloth mainset, Relentless Haste Neck/Cloak/Bracer/Belt/Boots, Relentless Hit ring, Furious crit ring, and some crappy Darkmoon trinkets (just hit 80 last week).

My mp5 is 249, my crit chance is at 9.12%, 2250 spellpower, 1100 resil, and 369 Haste Rating (~11% haste).

My mana regen is a bit low for sure, i should probably get some kind of regen trinket(s) and/or spirit ring from PvE, i just haven’t done any PvE yet. Luckily the 2v2 matches seem to be over pretty fast at my current low rating playing SP/R, but I’m sure they’ll slow down once we climb higher.

I also have no Haste gems but im considering swapping my Spellpower/SpellPen gems with Haste/SpellPen to give me a little more haste. That Haste trinket sounds nice, i assume that’s from Wintergrasp?

Not bad considering your gear. You should shoot for at least 300 mp5. I don’t pve so I can’t recommend any pve pieces but as a cloth wearer I don’t like to sacrifice resilience. I think you should be fine at 11% I wouldn’t try to add more and don’t sacrifice spell penetration unless you have more than 130.

The haste trinket is 39k-40k honor from the relentless off piece vendor in orgrimmar or in your case stormwind. The only thing worth getting from WG are the legs, which is almost as good as a piece of furious. The haste trinket gives 128 points of haste and you have 4600 hp increase for 10-15 secs (don’t remember) on a 3 min cool down which is a nice defensive cd to have in arena.

I recommend getting that haste trinket and swapping some of your haste off pieces for ones with spirit.

Also, I only do 3% hit rating since talents give you 3% hit toward shadow spells so you’re at 6% hit cap for shadow spells with just 3% hit.

Thanks for the great info. I will aim for the WG Pants and Relentless Haste trinket, and will replace a couple offset with spirit pieces.

Looks like my Hit rating is off too. I have 1.9% hit (+ another 3% from talents) so only 4.9% hit. I might need to swap another offset piece with a +hit relentless piece.

Closer to 30 if at all possible for you. Haste increases the amounts of ticks on your dots you apply so they will do more damage over their duration. Casting speed as well will be increased. And also your crit needs to be up there too quit a bit. 25 until closer to S8 when it needs to be slightly above 30, but not to exceed 35 as that will cause it to end up taking place of other stats that also need to be focused on such as crit and hit.

30% haste and 25% crit? Well, dang, I’m quite far from that. Ive been struggling to keep my crit over 9% while still maintaining over 10% haste. Must just be my gear level (gs is 4600) lacking and holding me back a lot.

Yes well there is also the fact that I was talking mainly 1v1 and arena stuff for those stats. BUT if you have a good team then you really dont need to go that far overboard with that stuff. A good group of friends will know both your strengths and your weakness and will be able to play off of that, so they can succeed where you fail and you will succeed where they fail. If you think you are doing okay right now and even seem to be doing fine, then that is a good thing. Wrath is not a good xpac for cloth right now, so not much you can do vs DK or war or even some of the rets out there. In Cata, if it launches you will have a better chance at that priest in 1v1s vs plate players.

But as for Wrath you can still be super great support. Just do it with shadowplay, annoy them with your dots, have a good heals keep you up and a good DPS to be the one who goes out there and take the hard hits that you cannot survive, then you will be able to bombard them with your spriest and can come out on top.

What I stated for the stats were the best stats that even I never came close to in original Wrath on my priest. I saw very few spriest who did that, one being my talented spriest friend, only able to get those stats by focusing all effort into that toon and making it his main focus and not wasting any time on his alts.

So it actually is doable with the stats you got. Your chances of coming across many spriests with that high of stats are kinda slim from what I have seen so far. Haste only effects some of your dots, crit effects them all as a spriest.

Im running SP/Rogue in 2v2 and plan to get an RPD trio going for 3s (with a resto druid friend). I just recently hit 80 and still getting the gear.

I have been avoiding crit or the Satin stuff, from what I’ve been reading on the guides and the discord re the importance of having that spirit, as Disctroll also mentioned. So as of currently im not itemized for crit at all. Dots still seem to crit sometimes, but its not common. If i were to get the crit offpieces id lose a lot of haste. If i were to get the Satin mainset id lose basically all my spirit. What a dilemma lol

Don’t listen to either of these guys lol just based on their responses not trying to attack them.

Im 2600 last season spriest Duelist

Stack haste offset, you dont need much hit because of talents relentless ring is enough rest offsets go haste.

5set mooncloth. Crit is doable this season if you have reign trinket etc but haste is way better otherwise.

I play SpM so I rely on resilience more than SpR does. I gem resil+sp/resil gems and use eng haste glove + troll racial (WG on use haste trinket is good too so is Battlemasters).

SpR can afford to run more pve items and wants to stack higher haste than the comp i run. Passive in full s7 ill have 13% static haste as an end goal with 1300+ resil. With on use gloves/WG trink haste goes higher than bloodlust.

As SPR use the most amount of haste you can get ahold of. Haste doesnt give you more dot ticks whoever said that up top is wrong. Instead it lessens the duration of dots so your ticks have a shorter burst window which lines up better with your rogues shadow dance burst. As SPR prioritize haste over all stats unless it drops your SP much. That burst window is the entire comp, you want to win then if youre playing it correctly.

Here’s a character sheet with the set up like im descibing. https://eightyupgrades.com/set/dLea5FWpYnmUCttjC5jWYH
This is all pvp rewards pretty much. Ring, trinket, and if you have pve options for other slots with more OFFENSIVE stats you can throw that in wherever as long as its more sp/haste while keeping 4set. Gem haste yellow, sp/haste reds. This is to get your static haste as high as you can for SPR. Like i said as SpM i prio more spellpower and resil and dump haste for that but for SPR you want to get in as much dmg during the rogues shadowdance as you can.

[Basic strat works vs most comps, if you care]
Rogue saps kill target you dispel clean him, get up VT+SWP then Devouring as your rogue opens so you have everything ticking from the start of the stunlock and shadowdance then you can purge anything healer puts on kill target while rogue&you throw cc (step kick, blind, silence etc).

Thanks for the excellent advice, and for the strategies. This all makes a lot of sense. Appreciate the help

No that’s Cata and beyond. Haste just makes two of your DoTs tick faster and lowers their overall duration (exactly like channeled spells). No extra ticks.

No offense takin mon. I only play disc in arena but in bgs I’ll play shadow and I guess mp5 is more important in bgs or else you go OOM very fast. But it does make sense to stack as much haste as possible and to neglect mp5 in 2v2 with a rogue or mage since the games won’t last long enough for you to run out of mana.

I currently run 5/5 Mooncloth in 2v2 (spirit mainset) and i end most matches either OOM or close to it, and that’s after using Fiend. I have considered 5/5 Satin but i think the loss of any more mana regen could be really risky at this point.

There has been the odd match where we 100-0 someone in an opener before his partner can react but i doubt that’ll be common as we continue to climb. We’re still low rated so you see all sorts of weird stuff happening.

There’s a guy on youtube called Nibai. He has good pvp videos for all classes. He has a video of full crit set/shadow spec and it goes hard af but it’s really only good for 1v1 or short fights. I’m using all haste off set pieces now. I’m at 14% haste and 306 mp5 in full furious. Def worth losing 60 mp5 for extra 4% haste. 300 is minimum I’d like to have tho.

i suggest full mooncloth + darkmender ring + solace + spell power bm + haste relent off sets + resil/spell pen gems til cap and you are good to go
you will barely see any performance change with fancy stuff, spriest is well rounded this phase

for anything pvp related to 3.3.5 wotlk, google warmane, classic NA is awful for pvp advise.

no one stacks haste on Spriest, your not a frost mage, you shoot for mooncloth pvp set, full pvp off pieces…

The haste offpieces i have are PvP (Relentless).

You say the same thing about NA/EU on every post lol.

Every Glad/duelist range spriests ive seen/talked with/played against, especially playing SpR, stack haste so the burst window is shorter to line up with dance damage. Crit, haste, spirit all have valid builds depending on what gear you have access to & what comp you’re playing.

:tooth:
4 out of 5 Dentists approve Haste in SpR as the best option, I understand why europe hasn’t heard about it yet. Sometimes NA & EU do things differently, run different comps & strategies. Both regions win tournaments chill out lol.
