PvP server noob!

Hey all! I’ve been playing WoW off and on since the end of BC however with the launch of classic I decided to try out a pvp server for the first time, in the past I’ve always leveled on normal realms. So I hit 33 and I’ve kind of run into a wall. I’ve been into STV and Hillsbrad and I’ve not been able to complete a single quest because of the sheer amount of ganks I have received as a lonely priest. Now I know it’s to be expected I guess my question is does anybody have any suggestions on how to alleviate some of this so I can level some more? I don’t even mind dying to ganks I just wish I could level at the same time :joy:

Gather allies and quest as a group, request help in General/Defense if gankers keep going for you

Yeah, welcome to vanilla world pvp. It’s pointless and a time-waster. It’s also why there were hordes of reroll locusts server-hopping to new pvp servers back during vanilla so they could try to speed level and be the gankers instead of the ganked.

I guess the “horde always outnumbers alliance” is true because I’ve tried and just can’t find anybody. I see numerous horde running around but for every 5 horde I see 1 alliance lol

Now’s the best time to practice strategies against certain classes. What you are missing in level xp, you are gaining in pvp experience. This will help you a lot later on.

Having said that I know it can be frustrating, so you could also weave in SM runs to gain some xp here and there.

This will probably be true on most pvp realms. Id estimate a 60/40 split, which isn’t astronomical, but definitely noticable. Also, grouping up helps a lot. Find a warrior buddy, keep him dispelled/topped and you’re golden.

I’d also recommend checking out other zones like arathi, desolace, thousand needles, southshore, etc (there’s not a ton, but probably a good 2-3 levels spread out between those zones in the early 30s). Stv can be kind of rough in the early 30s and I think most people go there way too early

'Course it depends on the server, Grob seems just about even faction wise thus far, but don’t be afraid to ask in capital cities and such too

Might even get a bloodthirsty high level to be an escort so you can do your quests :slightly_smiling_face:

I’ll check out some of those places tonight! <3

This is also how awesome wPvP usually starts. By one dude getting ganked and calling in the posse, which is then reciprocated so on and so forth. Especially in the Hillsbrad area.

Hmmm I like the idea of a high level bodyguard :joy:

Gotta roll with a group. The lone horde or alliance is an easy pick for gankers and are the preferred target. You’re a lot less likely to get ganked when the ganker(s) can see there are multiple players ready, willing, able, and waiting to retaliate against a gank attempt.

Even if you die in the fight the assailant is more than likely not going to get off without taking some lumps too.

Good question. You have many options available to you.

You can try being more aggressive in situations. A lot of people who would try to gank will run away if you get the first hit. You also tend to win more if you get the first hit.

Next you can roll in a group rather than solo. More people will avoid your group, and you’ll be better poised to fight back with a group.

You can jump to instance dungeon farming instead. It levels pretty fast if you have a competant group to roll with and spam dungeon.

You can just leave the area and just quest/grind elsewhere. It’s not a bad option if the above ones aren’t working for you. Part of PVP is knowing when you’re outmatched.

And lastly, if it comes down to it and you just can’t deal with it, as a last resort you can roll on a PVE server.
