PVP Rogues Dwarf/N'elf/Orc/Undead

What’s the general consensus on rogue racials now? Back in the day I always did Night elf for the bonus stealth, but then I think of all the times having the anti bleed/poison/curse thing would have helped me vanish as a dwarf and I shiver.

Then compare that to the orc resist stun and priest anti fear…that’s some tough choices…I still kind of think Dwarf right now, but thoughts?

Human perception isnt bad because you get the drop on other rogues and feral and can sap them out of stealth and stop their openers.

Dont think WotF is that great for rogues because they dont have much of a problem with priests to begin with (except maybe disc in bc). I dont think warlocks are much of a problem 1v1 either. Maybe I am wrong though.

imo Dwarf or human.

I personally think the dwarf racial is the best as far as rogues go, but by no means are any of the others bad.

NE stealth racial is underated… depending on your spec you can think of it as getting a free talent point.

Perception is another underrated one. This racial became overpowered in Arenas for later expansions… and it is at it’s same strength in vanilla.

Dwarf imo. It’s a pseudo-cloak of shadows.

good for bgs too in vanilla.

Arathi basin because you cant get sapped while protecting a node and instead get the drop on rogues trying to steal.

WSG because if you are guarding an FC, you stop openers on them.

Always orc. Stun resist just trumps every other racial regardless of your class imo. There are so many stuns in the game, and resisting one is such a huge advantage.

It was only overpowered in an arena setting because it was a supreme advantage against druid/rogue comps.

In world pvp/bgs its pretty meh. Every other racial is better. For PVE the weapon skill is strong though.

For classic, unless you’re hell bent on being the best pve dps you can be, or for RP reasons, I’d skip human for any of the other three races.

NE for the added stealth. You could use those extra points (or point?) towards something else

I dunno. I always saw it as really strong in BGs if you played around it. You are almost guaranteed the opener on rogues/feral trying to sneak a node or kill the fc.

Or orcs if you horde

So is a night elf with their much higher stealth level, and that doesnt help them only against other rogues/druids.

Can a nelf protect an FC and guarantee to prevent another rogue from opening? I mean I guess if you stacked on top of each other and are spamming a sap macro.

That’s not a rogue’s job. Rogues are for killing enemy FC, not defense.

But, yes, they can if you want to for some reason.

I don’t know if I agree.

I think the other races do have really good options as well… but I think the perception has a lot of use cases to where it is very good.

Sure if you are in a premade or RBGs when you have a setup for your team.

Most people will be doing solo queue and you will protect the FC a lot of the times. I mean I did. Rogues are great on defense as peel lords and forcing the enemy team off a turtle.

Don’t forget the higher dodge chance and base agility.

Im not trying to sell perception short in general. Just that I think there are better options for pvp rogues specifically, in the context of classic where arenas dont exist.

Things like stone form and EA help you out against enemies that prevent you from stealthing or try to kite. Shadowmeld helps you get more openers etc.

To me, perception is a better sell on other classes that need to look out for rogues. Like Paladins, Priests, Mages, Warlocks etc.

Gahhh…so many good choices…He’s not wrong about the orc stun, but being able to vanish out of bleeds poisons and taking off a curse…gah gah…I just dunno.

Brother you’re mis-remembering. Warlocks are a problem in 1v1 for literally everyone. Including other warlocks.

They have no unfavorable match ups assuming same level of gear/skill.
