Elemental Tuning Updates

Hello Elemental Shamans.

After playtesting and reading your feedback, we’ve decided to strike two of the changes previously announced for our tuning pass tomorrow.

We’re also working to address the issue with Ascendance that has been reported.

Thank you for your feedback and reports!

Glad they’re not completely murdering ya’ll tomorrow. Both DPS shamans should still be in a good spot Tuesday.

Yay! One of the devs actually did one rotation on the target dummies this time before they release the changes. :+1:

Once the Ascendance bug is fixed, you guys should look into compensation for Single Target damage, as that is quite a bit of a nerf we will be getting once it is fixed.

Good thing the community gave yall a heads up on the fixes… now when u do get around to fixing asc bug could yall compensate us for the ST dps loss? the bug accounts for 9% of our ST as of right now.

How much do I need to whine to get the fury AOE cap nerfs undone???

Great update! I hope blizz realizes that the ascendance bug currently provides ~9% ST dmg and compensates accordingly.

thank you for reading the positive feedback and listening !!!

Thank you and your team for responding and being receptive to feedback! its nice to see.

Something that we all want you to take back to the dev/tuning team is that the Ascendance bug is currently 9% of our single target damage. Once this is fixed is there any plans to compensate/make up for the sudden loss of damage we’ll be feeling?

Thank you for reading the feed back.

Please be noted that the Asc bug is still a large portion of our current damage. When it is fixed hopefully you will consider some kind of buff or compensation as the power of Ascendance and DRE (Deeply Rooted Elements) will drop when you do figure that out.

Thank you,

Super happy to hear that some of these changes are being reverted. Myself and others expected to be tuned down but not as drastically. However one thing that I’d wish to mention related to the Ascendance Bug.

The Ascendance bug ends up being extreme powerful on Single Target. Due to it shooting multiple Flameshocks and Lava Burst Overloads (that are amped by Ascendance’s buff) it ends up being substantially powerful. Estimates determined by the theorycrafters in the Earthshrine Discord estimate that the Ascendance bug getting fixed would lead to a 9% DPS nerf in single target. This isn’t a plea for a substantial buffs but rather asking to be mindful of the effect the bug fix will have on single target DPS and to consider some level of compensation for it.

Thank you for the update and listening to our feedback!

The elemental channel of the shaman discord has been a ride this past weekend since the announcement. The bugfix to Ascendance is still a large part of our current Single Target damage profile(7% in raw damage, and another 2%~ish in resources), especially with DRE - is there any way a reasonable ST focused buff could be shipped when it’s finally resolved/removed?

Whether it’s Lava Burst damage, Earth Shock/Elemental Blast damage, or something with a little cleave potential like Master of the Elements, our pure single target is going to feel significantly slower, both with the lack of mobility GCDs from Arc Discharge, and with Farseer unplayable post-bugfix, and our logs on Ky’veza and Sikran, should show evidence of how significant this bug actually is.

I know a rework of the Farseer tree for Elemental likely can’t happen until 11.1, but there are many avenues that could be found to diversify our gameplay with that spec. The Erupting Lava talent is currently only usable with this particular bugged interaction, for example.

PS: Thank you so much for the revert on the most drastic single target changes, it really does bring me a sense of relief to be able to continue playing the specialization I enjoy most. I love Icefury, I love lava burst, and I like lightning bolt just fine. Master of the Elements and the new Fusion talent are always the fun parts of the spec for me, little ways to boost my damage in single target by in the same way a Monk’s mastery is designed.

This bug currently accounts for 9% of our ST damage. Compensatory buffs needs to follow when it’s fixed. Thanks for the current changes!

Have they looked into what would be realistic to expect for compensation on the fixing of the ascendance bug? It’s worth quite a bit so the loss in that is pretty critical

A reminder that guardian druid tree has not been touched in over 440 days and competitive key pushers including the top bears have all dropped it for paladin. Any chance you guys can give some attention to a very outdated spec?

Thank you for taking a second look at these and reverting some of the nerfs. It’s really appreciated as they were overdone.

I want to make sure that the devs know the Ascendance bugfix you are working on deploying is accounting for roughly 9% of our single target DPS right now and I hope you find a way to compensate the spec for damage lost once it is fixed.

Great to hear, I’m sure you already are aware but the ascendence bug is about 9% of our dps, about the same amount of damage given back with these updates. It definitly should be fixed, but just making sure you guys are aware the bug is a big reason for the inflated dps in the first place.

I appreciate the fact that y’all said you play tested and decided to revert. It should have been a big red flag something else was going on when you decided a 25% nerf was needed. Going forward, play test your changes and do a root cause analysis. This should not and cannot happen again. EVER.

Very happy with these reverts! I think it puts the nerf into a much more reasonable state.

On the note of the ascendence bugs - i am 100% on the boat of wanting them fixed, but the bug actually accounts for a large portion of our single target damage and would like to add my voice in advocating for some compensatory single target focused buffs once that bug is fixed!

Thanks again, looking forward to playing my spec again
