PvP is a competitive mode, you can’t compare ilvl rewards like with PvE. If you designed it so only certain modes rewarded the good gear it would keep players from ever entering other modes because higher geared people would just destroy them. This will break ratings and cause the system to cannibalize itself.
I agree. I will say though that I’m sometimes baffled, at how despite all the un-prunings and the return of the talent trees, the game feels more “cookiecutter” and formulaic than ever. PvP, in its nature unpredictable, thrives on customizability and player agency, theory crafting and tutoring. Players being excited to play will naturally want to lead in some way, and pay their skills forward into the system (whether it’s through creating groups, streaming, writing guides and videos, etc). This is because they depend on others to have goals and curves for improvements – so that the ladder remains active and queue times reasonable. That isn’t really the case now, because there are so few dedicated PvP’ers left. Most guilds fell apart since WoD, and while I do think Solo Queue is very convenient, I can’t help but wonder if it were really necessary if only this game knew how to trace back from bad changes and keep its players.
nobody is talking about giving pvpers different ilvl gear. What I am trying to say is that even LFR gives a diff color mog than Mythic, or straight up M+ gear is entirely different than raid gear, yet they all have varying levels of difficulty, and so does the different pvp brackets, but we have the SAME exact rewards across all bracket
Why is it a bad thing to get to play what PvP mode interests you? I can get mythic mog from delves and I think thats cool.
but bgs and arena are very different in playstyles and strategies, so why do we not have separate rewards for that reason alone? Even just diff mog colors?
blitz should also have its own mount for 2400 + 50 wins
what im trying to say is there aren’t very many pvp rewards and its kind of inconsistent for the one-off rewards, despite the various gameplay modes we have.
So are raids dungeons and delves.
The thing I dislike most about pvp is the FOMO. That you constantly have to be on the grind every season to get rewards, it shouldn’t be made to having to juggle different modes as well.
Blitz being 800 free mmr is kind of detrimental considering it gives all the generic rewards and then some.
according to that goblin freak above, its fine because “arenas suck” and he can’t put a modicum of effort to find 1-2 other players to play with because his schedule is “inconsistent” meanwhile I have literal full-time working dads on my friends list that are able to LFG glad.
Nah bro, you need to literally no-life it and do nothing else, while hoping your team won’t drag you down.
Also, they are all pretty close in terms of challenge at high ratings, so IDK WTH you’re complaining about.
It feels like M+ gatekeeping over Delves, PvP style.
At least for early S1, MMR hell was real, then win traders popped up and I just quit PvP entirely until last season.
And yes, Arenas suck.
no you do not lmfao, last season people were 4k rated in blitz, this season we’re a little over a month in and the top is 3200 rated.
just picking out random records I see for some people in 2400 blitz currently, random order:
25 - 10
30 - 28
26 - 21
30-30
29-13
42-32
seems like 2400 in blitz is free in less than 100 rounds, a month into a fresh season.
please tell me how asking for more rewards for pvp in general is gatekeeping? BGs have a different playstyle and strategies than arena, so this further reinforces that we should at least get some kind of different colored moggies, titles, etc.
Maybe you forgot, but several BGs have their own achievements/rewards
Just got “Prospector” title from finishing all the Seething Shore achievements a few months ago.
Arenas don’t even have that, it’s a generic arena achievement for all of them.
Go chase the Master of ________ BG achievements if you need something more to do.
I’m not talking about “the top”, I’m talking about general expectations for average real humans, with limited time, without “exploiting” duo queueing with healers.
The time investment is not small and you get 0 guarantees of rating improvement, since team matching is a dice roll, even with rating, specially if you play at certain times of day.
Unless something changed significantly from S1 BGB, it takes at least 4 hours per day to get to that point.
Point noted, and I stand corrected. It could be healthier for the game.
Unfortunately, feedback has been given for 2 years and Blizzard hasn’t responded once on how they will fix any of the issues.
The reason so many players are quitting is because without a statement from Blizzard the community is just concluding that Arena is becoming unsupported.
MMR is so bad in Blitz, that leavers lose no mmr and the healer who lost the most ends up taking the MMR hit, making healers quit. There are just too many issues with arena currently.
No, no, and no.
The PvP reward structure has never been better than it currently is.
u talkin about gearing or about rewards? Cause to me its pretty comical that anyone with a pulse gets 2400 in blitz and gets basically every reward
Both
I don’t know what you are talking about here.
It takes 10+ minutes to get into a Blitz, and despite being below 1k rating, I’ve gotten matched up with 1700+ teams.
That makes it virtually impossible to climb rating unless you started playing from day 1 and were queueing all day every day.
gearing is the easiest its ever been, ive made no complaints about gearing
cool , youre one of the few npcs whose rating is so bad youre stuck in low mmr land til probably the very end. In any case, all the more reason that the bg brackets and arena brackets should at least give diff rewards, like even something simple as different color mogs.
people were 4k rated, thousands of players reached 2400 for the first time ever last season and continue to do so this season, because blitz amounts to just queueing and little else. Which is fine btw, I don’t care if blitz rating is inflated, but the fact that rewards stop at 2400 and people are achieving 4k+ makes little sense.
It’s really not. PvP is PvP you just have 2 different flavors BG’s or Arena.
Most people will at most do 1800 on a class for the elite set transmog. Sometimes 1950 for the illusion if it’s good. Then grind games for Vicious Mount/Saddles.
If you wanted to add another reward incentive I could see them adding a Vicious Saddle like system for elite sets from BfA onwards where 1800 gave you the set (except the cloak) where you can earn progress when you are at 1800 rating (compared to Vicious Saddles 1000 rating).
It’s not a guarantee. Many players get stuck in MMR hell from being unlucky.

Yup, it’s a PVP thread
But in your OP, you said:
And never specified what you meant by “different rewards”.
Cool, so since I’ve countered your argument with my own experiences, you are just going move the goalpost.
All the more reason to take you less seriously.
(Also, be sure to check a person’s achievements before you rating shame them. Unlike you, I am not afraid to post on my main. And inb4 you pull the classic alt account excuse.)
