PVP Rating has become absurd

Gearing has become impossible with the current rating requirements.

The second I reach high 1200s, the enemy teams all have 220 gear.

How can I get 220 and 40k health if everyone in the 1300s already have that?

Do PvE. About the only answer at the moment.

It’s definitely possible. It’s a hard climb, I know, but it can be done. You just gotta make the most of your cds/ccs. If you’re doing 2s, I’d say to always run with a healer.

Do RBGs. Once you get a rythme for finding groups and a few Btag friends, it is way less painful than trying to do it via arena.

As someone who LFGs for pvp, arena is just pure aids right now. Just my opinion of course but I am basically done with it and just focused on battlegrounds til the season ends.

@ the OP, the sheer amount of wins you have in 2s at a 51% win rate pretty much sums up the current mmr system. IMO if you are winning 50% of your games you should be seeing a rating increase. Even if it is minimal per win.

You either
A) do rated bgs which are super easy to get to 1600 in lol or
B) run 1 +14 key a week for easy 226 gear like everyone else in the game does

You’re tryna gear your char like 4 months since this season started. Sometimes you just need to face the facts and realize that you’re way behind the curve of gear and theirs not a whole lot you can do about that.

All of that being said
I miss the days when wow pvp gear had 2 different ilvls with pvp stats I.e honor gear and conquest gear. Not a different ilvl for every 200rating you get. Awful system.

You can’t. Someone better might be able to.

Like Ralanthel said, RBG’s are much easier. I can’t even imagine starting the arena ladder right now. That’s not to say I’m even remotely good at PVP.

I’m horrible at PVP but I wanted that plate set.
I think OP that unfortunately if you weren’t ontop of it from launch, you’ll have a harder time now.

He did not say that! He said it’s a “Skill” issue.

I have been saying since TBC that RATED PvP should have normalized gear since it is suppose to be about skill and not just iLvL.

1400 or less, all gear squashed to a 200iLvL.
1600 the cap is lifted to 207 and etc etc.

One you get into the next ‘bracket’ you have to grind out the gear (it is an mmo after all) but you are not going to be so out geared as to be a meme match.

This makes the entire rated system, and what I assume is suppose to be a more skill based than random BGs, more a reflection of skill than iLvL.

unrated, world pvp, random BGs should all allow you to wave your epeen around and blow up noobs. But rated (and the accompany mount/title) should be more skill based achievement, not who happens to get geared the fastest/earliest.

Please note I purposely ignoring the class imbalance, meta, and gimmick mechanics that have been introduced since this seems to be the way blizzard is driving subscription renewals, and hence there is no way they are going to do it as long as they see results.

Rated BGs aren’t an option because as a Rogue I won’t be accepted with ilvl 200.

If I start my own, people won’t join with 200 ilv.

The forums: Gaining rating in PvP is impossible! You just fight super geared players all the time making it impossible to climb.

Also the forums: Just do PvP to 1800 in a weekend and get free full set of 220 gear. PvP gearing is so easy and fast.

You don’t.

Ion has lvl 6 honor , he needs to get “get good”

Are you playing twos or 3s? Rogues are super reliant on good setups, so you’re comps are limited to very control-y comps, and your setups have to be really good, because you mentioned being about 200 item level, you’ll be working against people with 25% more hp/damage. A scuffed setup will likely cost you the game more often than not.

Try to find a consistent partner. Mage and/or priest probably your best bets. Practice your setups and execution, and just keep it up. You’ll break through and start getting better gear before you know it.

Above all, stay positive. After every game (good or bad) talk about what went well and what didn’t. Give kudos for good plays and always make it a point to point out a mistake that you made or a play you could have nailed better.

Above all else, stay positive. Try not to fall into a circular drain of blaming blizzard or blaming others, always look at what you could have done differently, because you can’t control who you fight or class balance. All you can control is how you play.

Stay positive, stick to it, and you’ll climb.

Straight from our very own game director !!.

Maybe I’m just misremembering but did the old gear have rating requirements? In like MoP or beyond?

Or was it just a tint for Elite set?

I still think that rating shouldn’t be required for the conquest gear. I would make it so rating influences the amount of conquest you get per win.

Then obviously you can keep the ladder, leaderboards, and all the cosmetics you can currently get via rating.
