In the old system based on your current scenario there wouldnt be enough players PvPing in the first place to create a b1 or even a b2 slot… so therefore rank 14 would also be impossible.
Pool parties say hello. We actively created additional b1 spots. Also I can’t remember the breakpoints but I am pretty sure with later patches there was always a guarantee for a b1 spot as long as a certain number of people participated in PVP for the week which I don’t recall being a very high number
And there you have it as to why they removed the old PvP system.
it was a massive haven of botting… in classic we used to bot 20,000 EXTRA PER WEEK in the pool
its never coming back, stop asking for it. Waste of space.
Posting on my r14 character for validity, but I think the old system can stay retired.
I liked its quirks and how it fostered community and it’s a big part of why I like vanilla-style pvp, but the new system just makes so much more “sense” in terms of being more modernized for the current audience of the game.
I don’t exactly know what the new system will do to the groups or PvP community organization exactly, but I know that when it got implemented in classic era most people were just spamming the heck out of AV all day and every day, with occasional WSG to mix it up.
I really don’t think people will have trouble hitting the 500k cap though…that cap is meaningfully lower than many of the rank 10+ bracket caps of the old days…so it’s really not that hard to do even if organized PvP is somewhat dried up.
it’s impossible to hit if you are human, or have no little brother/(mom? ) to farm it for you
Well nothing has really changed then? Rank 14 has always been a sweat lord title and it’s fitting that the changes they made make it more “accessible” per se but still requires sweat.
No ! it’s not the same!
Killing Drek/Vanndar in repeat 8hours a day is really not healthy and boring
Only 8 hours a day?
So what exactly are you suggesting??
I agree the old system can stay retired, but the new system is not good enough and only took away more social aspects from the game. I’m a very anti-social person. I would rather soloqueue and listen to my music at full blast instead of having to talk to people, and I accept the downsides of that like bad pug teams and facing premades.
I still was forced out of my bubble and had to coordinate with other players for weeks in order to get what I wanted. Made lots of friends that I wouldn’t otherwise. With the new system I would just be able to mindlessly queue and eventually with linear progress get my rewards.
get rid of the honor cap per week, like this if you queue WSG or AB and don’t get 500k but 200-300k, you lose nothing
F the sweatlords, they ruin the game
imagine your best acomplishement in life is to get R14 by not sleeping for a month and then laugh at casual players …
So you just actively ignored what everyone that currently is playing on Era and ranking are telling you. That the participation is so low that 500k is not attainable per week.
For reference I was in the best alliance Premade period with a 99.99% win rate with 5 minute WSG/AB wins that ran literally 24/7. This was also against 85-90% opposing premades
We could hit our 1.5 mil caps in 3 days which means if anyone threatened us our theoretical limits where triple to quadruple that amount.
That was w/ vesting 12-14 hours a day grinding. Now vesting the same amount of hours per day/week it simply is not possible to even hit the 500k threshold due to reduced participation. So in a vacuum saying o easy 500k reduced cap is nothing just means you aren’t grounded with the current situation.
Also you touched on another systematic problem that the reward structure for WSG/AB is marginal in a non premade structure (where premades virtually no longer exist) that is unable to get 5 minute wins that most people avoid it thus waiting for AV and specifically AV weekend so it actually just compounds and exacerbates the problem cause people are simply not queuing regularly for WSG/AB as the hph yields are just not there.
naturally dwindling
Yeah, no. Premades are what killed Era PVP participation. Not nature. Premades cannibalized the entirety of the PVP playerbase and when it got to the point that only Premaders were left, they quit queueing because they wouldve been forced to fight eachother.
Keep it , dont lie about it.
I mean, you’re correct that I’m not currently experiencing the current Era PvP situation (I haven’t been on this character in a long while). I appreciate your effort to elaborate a little though.
Are you truly concerned that in Anniversary’s short stint of life that it will have PvP participation issues though?
Repeating what I previously wrote:
For reference I was in the best alliance Premade period with a 99% win rate with 5 minute WSG/AB wins that ran literally 24/7. This was also against 85-90% opposing premades
Not sure what your experience was but we were the first round of r14s at the peak when we in majority only faced other premades. How this devolved I have no clue and if the situation changed so that one faction had premades and the other faction didn’t that is not what I experienced.
We are all adults 30+ in this Classic ship so the honor cap per week is childish punishment RIDICULOUS
GET RID OF IT
Killing oremades kills the game. Competent people don’t want to be forced to play with morons.
Premades will be on fresh and you’ll just have to get over it
What server and character?
Yes because short stint is relative which could be months to a year+ which is a long time for current PVP players.
Also as I mentioned in previous posts there also was a natural decline in PVP participation pre fresh so it was a wider systematic problem, be it due to:
- Natural maturity of the Era realms the already small subset of PVP players is just naturally smaller over time
- So far most people already have achieved their desired rank compounding on the reduction
- Less general participation from PVErs that used to also PVP a bit since they can just vest their time into getting T3 far more readily
Also why there are natural declines or explicit declines due to fresh ultimately is tangential cause the underlying point is that the system needs to intrinsically account for both increases and decreases in PVP participation in general (there are ideas shared in our earlier posts). The only constant is that people that are willing to vest the same time as they did with the old system need to be able to vest the same time with any new system to hit rank 14 and that is a very realistic thing to ask and expect.
