PvP Ranking as a healer

I have a general question.

How does one get credit when PvP’ing people as a healer of a group.

Does the scoring work as ?

  1. Only the person that gets the kill shot.
  2. Everyone in a party that kills an valid enemy player.
  3. Anyone that does damage to the enemy player that is killed.

Is there a timer? If I damage a player that runs off and is killed a minute later do I get credit? 10 seconds later? etc.

Im trying to get my head around how the scoring works so I can maximize my efforts. Im not very motivated to go out and heal PvP parties if Im not going to get credit here.

this isn’t counter strike dude

So what are rules ?

I think you have to have done some damage, or be in a group/raid with someone who has done damage and then the honor is split evenly. I don’t think just healing someone who isn’t in your group gets you honor. But it’s been a while I could be wrong

Just be active around the battle. You’ll receive credit.

And active meaning, not standing there doing nothing. Do ANYTHING and you’ll get credit so long as you are participating in the fight.

I think you can just heal people in your group, but you also have to be in range of the kill. You are kind of at a bit of a disadvantage as a healer since you’re a primary target and will spend a lot of time dead. I don’t think were were a lot of healer HWL/GM players back in the day, unfortunately.

The PvP ranking calculations are definitely done off of honour though, not off of HKs.

I just looked at the tooltip for honor points and it says “Damage” The more you do to the target the more points you get.

So that sadly is going to screw healers big time.

Last night I merely had to be in range of a kill and as long as someone in my group had done damage, I got credit. I think there were times I didn’t even do anything but maybe was trying to run up to get in range to help, and got credit having not used a single skill.

It is possible that because I PW: Fort buffed everyone that was enough, so I don’t know. But I got credit for everyone that died that someone in my group attacked, so I wasn’t worried. I got plenty of kills and just focused on doing my job and having fun and the system worked well.

Also I definitely wasn’t dying anymore than anyone else, so that’s not a huge concern. WPvP fights aren’t like arenas where you get hyper focused immediately. The enemy rushes in, not immediately aware of your group makeup so it takes people a moment to react, and they are often busy fighting someone else anyway. Even when I was focused, most times I was able to live long enough for help to arrive - fights are generally fast in WPvP and you’re also often prepared with a PW:Shield and several teammates nearby. Honestly I died more to being outnumbered than anything else, and so did the rest of us. I had a few occasions where I was focused and died but that’s ok - it wasn’t the majority of the night and it’s bound to happen sometimes.

Damage done doesnt effect honor gain between members of the same group. Don’t spread misinformation.

Yes I want to agree with this. We all got essentially the same amounts of honor per kill regardless of what we did. The only thing that seems to matter is rank/XP of the person you’re killing and amount of people in your group. You’ll gain max honor solo killing, decent honor in 5-10 man groups, and almost nothing in full 40 man raids.

It works very similar to XP. Except that you can ‘share the mob’ tag, by doing damage, healing the person, or in essence getting into pvp combat.

It’s based on damage done by group members.

Say you’re a healer and you group up with a warrior. Your warrior and an ungrouped rogue each deal 50% of a target’s health.

Your group splits half the honor and the rogue gets half the honor, so you and your warrior would each get 25% of the target’s honor value.

The summary is, if you’re a healer, get in a group.
