PvP Prot Gutted

Its more effective in bgs than arena, which obviously means it isnt worth much overall… yea could definitely use a few buffs, not nerfs to thunderclaps secondary dmg by 50% or whatever it was, and the long list of other things. I just found out 5s arent a thing anymore, that would probably be the place for it.

wtb a reworked gladiator stance as a pvp talent.

Tanks in general could work, but theyll have to be much regulated to a support role of CC, buffing and debuffing. We cant have instances like blood death knights out lasting everything you throw at it, while dealing respectable damage.

I genuinely don’t see a problem with that sort of play style other than the fact the player base doesn’t like it when you can’t delete something in a a few button presses.

It’s not that. It’s that the pacing of arena is already incredibly slow. Nobody wants tanks in the game to slow it down even more. BFA had some of the dampest seasons in the history of the game and nobody likes that. If you outplay your opponent, manage to land a full CC chain on the healer, your dps throw everything + the kitchen sink at a target…they should die, given that they don’t respond magnificently with peels and defensive play. Hell, you can even CC both the healer and the other dps, and your target will still live.

The issue is that is far too common. And tanks in arena just aggravate the issue further. The pacing is slow without a tank in a match. Add a tank and it’s unbearable, to the point I’ve literally watched r1 players afk out of the match before it starts, even though they beat the opposing team 9 times out of 10.

I’ve played in seasons that were far worse. I’ve had arena matches that lasted for over 30 minutes, just because the healers would not die.

That’s not really a thing. They added a time limit back in MoP, and after 15 minutes you or your opponent got a buff.

The only games that really lasted that long before MoP were Rdruid teams with SL/SL warlocks.

And maybe you could kill the healer if you weren’t prot.

Ohh I was in a massive uproar for over a year and gave up. Since TBC I played Prot War as my main and it’s completely not viable in PvP. Without D stance it isn’t even Prot. Not to mention losing Shield Slam dispel as well as it’s dmg. So I uninstalled after complaining for 1 year.

Then I came back and rerolled to a real tank in Prot Pal for PvP. Currently Prot warriors is a lost cause and it’s design is in the most horrific state imaginable.

Don’t even try it just reroll Prot Pal for SL since you are a real mitigation tank with holy shield and flat % mitigation. You actually have defensives and healing. You have immunes and CC immunes. You have silence and stun. It’s actually a well put together spec unlike warriors. Ohhh and it’s amazing damage!!

So Prot Pal welcomes you with open arms!! You can keep enjoying Prot my friend and BFA Prot Pal was some of the most fun I had since Wrath. Looks like SL that fun will continue.

There is no PvP without Tanks. It’s that simple. They are a required role to fight The Good Fight on the front lines.

Gladiator Warriors were the best Dps spec this game ever had. There is nothing better than doing big Deeps with a Shield. Sword and board Dps is by far the best way to Dps.

30 min matches have not been a thing since TBC so no. You have next to no PvP experience so stop talking like a subject matter expert.

5.1 patch notes

PvP

The growing conflict between the Horde and the Alliance has spilled across the face of Azeroth: level 90 players can now queue for Wintergrasp and Tol Barad via the PvP tab to battle one another in these epic conflicts.
PvP Power will now only increase the healing of dedicated healing specializations, and will now only increase the damage of dedicated damage or tanking specializations.
The amount of PvP Power on weapons has been increased.
**Arena matches now have a 25 minute time limit (was 45 minutes).**

You are literally talking about a 40 vs 40. I rest my case. See Backstabbath earlier post.

It says arena matches. Look at the double asterisk.

Congrats you found something from MoP that doesn’t prove anything. Matches were not 30 mins in MoP for arenas. But keep talking like you have a lot of exp.

Let me put it to you another way, why do you think those time limits were implemented in arena.

If you are going to say matches took 30+ mins then you just went ahead and proved you did no rated PvP during MoP so i’ll end it here.

If you have an hour to complete a task, does the task take an hour?

Happy hunting.

It literally says that before MoP, the time limit in an arena was 45 minutes. After MoP the time limit was 25 minutes.

Games did not last 45 minutes. That’s what he is saying. The pacing of the game then was totally different.

I understand that. Ideally the pacing would be under 10 minutes per arena match, or even 5. Some xpacs, it seemed to me that healers were overtuned, which is presumably why they implemented the time limits. Also, it’s probably why they implemented dampening and instanced tank survivability nerfs.

I’m not trying to be a total lughead, I was just stating it’s something I’ve experienced in the past.

Hey buddy - you guys still aren’t the worst tanks out there. You should be happy!

Brew and Prot Warrior was tied for worst Tank of BFA. Blood DK was above them and even had a better chance in Arena then Prot as well.

Where the other 3 Tanks were competitive in PvP with Prot Pal being the clear leader especially for Arena.

So all old Prot Warrior have another expansion where they just aren’t even playable but at least they can reroll to Prot Pal or something else.

Since when? At arena, maybe - but not in Battlegrounds. Both tanks currently have more healing than Blood Death Knight - who heals 3% of their health per Death Strike. Meanwhile, Protection Warriors have far more passive damage reduction with ridiculous Impending Victory which instantly heals 30%.
