PvP player percentage?

I have seen numbers in GD that only 1 percent of WoW players do PvP … that seems hardly believable because you get a BG queue every 3/4 minutes ( that’s 20-30 players ) while a heroic dungeon queue for 5 players takes double the time .

Are we including players that do a mix of content including PvP or just PvP players?

And rated or unrated PvP?

I would say any kind of PvP

It shouldn’t be surprising. If I was a new player that is a caster and stepped into a battleground anytime since wrath, I would very likely never go into another battleground again or just quit WoW altogether.

The devs themselves have stated that Random BG participation is about the same as LFR participation, this should give an idea about overall participation on both game modes including the smaller competitive modes.

People make stuff up to support their narrative all the time around here. If you ask them for a source they get suddenly quiet.

Nobody knows the exact numbers outside of Blizzard, so anyone claiming to know is probably full of crap.

Hahaha hunters are already in the cry-path claiming that PvP has ruined mm because they are taking away double tap. And someone said “1% of the wow population cried so hard that they took away our double tap”

I enjoyed their tears of anguish. PvP is boomin right now. Like the start of s1 it’s a more healthy community’s. m+

you would be upset as well. in rated pvp mm is the worse spec in the game and the only thing they had going for them was a 1 shot gimmic with double tap. they they are just free rating. They need to buff their tankyness and increase overall damage. nerf 1 shot burst but make their trueshot actually good

Keep removing MM buttons and replacing them with passives, I love it. I don’t want 40 buttons up in here, get rid. Next one to get rid of should be the old necrolord ability, bake that in with volley. And make both have 30 second cooldown and bake that in with explosive shot. And make salvo have 30 second cooldown, people will be macroing this in with volley since it’s off the GCD. One button/GCD for the old necro ability, three explosive shots, and then volley.

Next get rid of focus and steady shot. Then combine Arcane Shot, Steady Shot, and Chimaera shot into one button depending on how many targets it will hit. Then make all traps work like Dh’s imprison, @target immediately, no more need to land traps. And untie lust from your pet so you can lust without ever summoning a pet.

Then I doubt that 1% is remotely accurate. What is the source for that?

1% is super low, no way that’s accurate

If I had to guess I would say 25-30% of the playerbase at least dabbles in a random BG here and there, for rated PvP I would guess 10-15% dabble in it

the only thing that sometimes got me into the pvp mood was watching reckful’s stream.

now that he’s no longer with us that’s not happening D:
the reruns dont have quite the same effect.

I recall Blizzard mentioning that RBG was about as popular as LFR was in MoP. Or maybe it was LFD. I forget.

At one point Blizzard said that up to ten percent of the population does any activity at any given time. That really means that most people do a variety of things and few limit themselves to one type of activity or another.

In Wod Blizz said its was about 50/50 now after Ion its probabli 90/10

Bfa and sl permanently scared off a lot of pvp only players who will probably never come back to wow, so forever less than it was in wod and prior

For your spread sheet

I use to, but after cata introduced shards and folks used those invisible barriers to avoid death and heal up, there’s no point in wpvp.

As for BGs, it’s a bored on a blue moon kinda thing.

Because BG queues will throw anyone in, regardless of their role.

In PvE queues it demands a strict composition of 1-1-3 and way more people are queueing to fill the 3 dps role than the 1-1 tank/healer role. This isn’t a good comparison to make.

I dabble in most activities.

Generally speaking, I look at myself as a collector. Though, one who enjoys casual PvP and PvE… Depending on my mood. :man_shrugging:

I think a lot more people fit into this category than people realise.
