The current HC version really make me feels like playing the game the way it was meant to be played, except for the pvp part.
While the guards for either faction and the gurubashi arena works well, I feel like the BGs should be implemented (you can die in the BG instance), and some areas around the world could flag your character for pvp (ex. Go shek farm/ hillsbrad fields).
It would give more flavor to the game adding back the honror system and maybe more community created events.
The BG servers are not on the HC server which means they have no way to prevent people from rezzing without additional coding, and no you should never be able to Rez if you join a BG and die, if you want to have softcore BGs where you can die, roll an alt on ERA.
While they could probably add the ability for people to goto a BG, with the fact that nobody ever would, it simply isnāt worth the development cost and effort to prevent them from rezzing. I mean letās be honest, if you donāt ever see a single player on the HC server with the PvP flag on, really is there any demand?
This makes no sense. The hc challenge is to level up to 60, pvp on bgs are another thing entirely. I have era characters and made my way in pvp there. There is nothing excluding the battlegrounds to the hc level up challenge.
Regarding the people flagging themselves, there are some people who actively search for people flagged near tarren mill/southshore.
I agree with you though, that it would require changes to the current code regarding to enable players from hc servers to die only in bg.
The problem with BGs is that HC only exists on the HC server, if you join a BG your grouped with ERA servers, and there is no way to handle HC mixing with non HC, as its not fair to the BGs if people simply died and didnāt come back, and HC characters would still have to die in BGs, and no there should be no exemption from death while in a BG. It simply creates a mess, HC overall just doesnāt lend itself well to BGs.
Additionally HC does not end at 60., HC is not a level up challenge, HC is simply no deaths, it begins at level one and ends when you die, that can be before 60, or after. While there are some who feel they have accomplished their goal by making it to 60, and feel they are done, thats a personal decision and not one that really has anything to do with actual HC, as there is plenty to do after hitting 60.
PvE hardcore is only half the game (the really easy half), the true hardcore-gods will be able to kill KT and do so on a PvP server while protecting themselves from the other faction.
No relation. A server full of pve players and one person running around flagged is a clown.
A full pvp server would develop rules and regulations and community norms. Even if it is gangs of rogues or whatever that rule the land. There will be people living there and it will be interesting to see what happens.
Of course it isnāt for the causal, or the pve player, or anyone who is worried about losing their toon. But for some pvp players it could be interesting - and if enough people manage to get to max level, it could be cool to see people being āescortedā around and people protecting their lands.
It would be as real world of warcraft as one could get.
A full PvP server would not develop rules, you would get a few griefers and they could easily destroy everyone on the server. If you canāt handle PvPing on a server where pretty much 99.9% of the people are afraid to flag, then youāre not going to last even a few weeks on a real HC PvP server. The server would be decimated almost immediately, likely the only way to level would be to have 2 accounts, and the level when others are offline and have a spy account so you could make sure nobody was in the same zone as you from the other side. Honestly a HC PvP server after a month would probably make SR look crowded.
People are also unlikely going to escort people around, and even if people do get escorted, as essentially all the griefers will be rogues, they can gank someone, vanish, go hide until vanish is up again, then rinse and repeat, the server would also be completely horde dominated due to the imbalanced racials, as stun resist will be completely overpowered when you have a server of rogues.
Whatever rules / norms those rogues setup will be the ones of the server.
But get a few healers / warriors leveled up and they could run around semi-safe from the greifers because ganking them would have a high risk.
Also people can set traps as groups, so ganking someone is never safe on a true pvp server. People will be somewhat careful especially when ganking players of higher level - because as you say they may have a second acc, a friend, or purposefully be a trap.
Or if you kill the wrong person, they are now upset at you and you are a marked person and they may make it their wow-mission to get you back.
yeah cool fantasy but in practice, HC PvP would just be a bunch of sweaties fast leveling rogues to 30 or so and then camping every quest giver in all the contested zones
