Love this game and it’s in a decent state atm besides hunters/disc priest making it a little less fun, but we gotta keep bringing this mmr issue up until it gets resolved.
One of the worst problems in WOW pvp (and it has been for a while now ) is not being able to push brackets because of deflation early in a season. This is terrible for the game and for people who want to feel a meaningful progression. Why should we have to wait until mid-late season to be able to actually play the game we want. Personally, I wouldn’t care if people were able to hit 3k first day in any bracket.
Let’s keep making some noise about this because I don’t see the point. Just makes people not want to pvp.

The “deflation” you see in the early season is actually just Blizzard’s MMR curve.
Historically, many players queueing for rated content each week used to create a natural inflation but, in recent years, players just haven’t been queueing for PVP as much.
To resolve this, Blizzard started doing weeklt “MMR injections” where they shift the curve by 10-20 points per week. This has led from a scenario where 1400 was the 50th percentile (Challenger was 65th, Rival was 90th, Duelist 97th, Gladiator 99th) to a system where, instead, by the end of the season you end up with a 50th percentile rating near 1900.
This has caused what people call the wait and queue meta, which is actually a self destructive cycle since even less people queueing early in a season makes early-season mmr curves suck even more.
Solution: People literally just need to stop whining and press Q.
Bonus points: We revert titles back to %-based instead of hard number based, move everyone’s current achievements to Legacy achievements, and start over.

blizz decided to make us wait 3 weeks after the expansion launch for the season, and then wait 2+ months to actually be able to climb mmr
Solution : unsub, come back mid/late season, get gear in a few days with uncapped conquest points, push elite.

The meaningful progression is still there; it’s just on a smaller scale
being able to separate rank from rating is VITAL to accepting the mmr system because it’s really not broken
Unless you mean rating progression, like you ended last season at 2450 and want to make strides to hit a 2500 pb then a 2600 pb ect
At that point wanting that so early in the season means we either play an endless loop where everyone wants to see a higher arbitrarily number until the only answer is 4k then 5k
OR you achieve that 2700 you always wanted once then what?
You’ll always be on a stupid pointless treadmill if you can’t identify your ladder rank and instead think about cr
Then what? We have 9000 people tied at 3900 at the end of the season? How would titles work; just first to get there in order?
Then what about next season
Now that youve seen 3900 next season to feel “progression” you won’t be satisfied until you see 4000? That’s dumb
Your progress is your ladder spot
That other number is so completely meaningless unless you’re only playing for cosmetics

This isn’t a thing, blizzard isn’t artificially making the ladder harder to progress in. The biggest determining factor for ladder inflation is and has always been just the community pressing or not pressing the Q button.
Random bgs and epic bgs poppin, best game modes
MMR definitely feels weird. 1600MMR in SS right now is a combination of people on glad mounts, and people who die without pressing defensives.
