PVP isn't fun anymore

I have played this game religiously mostly pvp for 10+ years.

What is up with the PVP Blizzard? Do you have new game designers doing the PVP and Battlegrounds?

Because please, can you just log in and que a Battleground, spend an hour.

As Alliance.

And please view the comments, view the frustration, your players are angry, type raging, yelling at each other, NOT happy players. This is every game, every single game without fail.

You’ve made the experience very unpleasant. Why would a game designer think that a player who is chain stunned for 10+ seconds is enjoying themselves? Why can 5 of us try to chase a Monk Healer with a flag and not be able to damage him ? We watch helplessly while he caps a flag. Why are we playing at all in that case? Why do you -still- allow premades to destroy people who are just trying to que and have a bit of fun ? Why would you allow the minority, premades, people who dedicated 10+ hours a day into your game, to destroy people who play casually? Who is doing your game design?

That seems like a really obvious mistake. I would know not to stun a player for that long. It makes it aggravating and frustrating not FUN.

I hope you are patching this in a very major way soon, because right now I would find going to the dentist more enjoyable, or driving in rush hour traffic the ‘same’ frustration as queing for a Battleground, something that used to be fun, exciting and enjoyable.

I do find the chain CC and unkillable healers to be a couple of the most “unfun” things about this game’s PvP. If I’m in a BG and see 3 enemy healers cross-healing each other it’s like, why bother. Maybe other people have fun trying to kill healers, let alone 3 of them at the same node - I don’t, and I think a lot of people don’t. The design is bad and can be blamed on balancing around arena.

You do know Mage is fotm right, imagine if you played a class that wasn’t so easy ATM.

I certainly feel your frustration. Chain CCs and powerful healers can make a melee DPS just want to give up.

However, no matter how frustrated I get at the balancing and mechanics (because I do feel it is deserved), I also have to place the blame on the type and quality of players, especially the Alliance players in random BGs.

At certain times of the day or week, it seems the Alliamce side is flooded with lessor experienced or lessor quality players. If they are not familiar with how to play their class in PvP, then they lack the experience or forsight to make decisions that could lead to a win. Also, there is a lot of bickering and finger-pointing that goes on in chat instead of getting back up, dusting yourself off and getting back into the fray.

It’s this lack of teamwork that really hurts the allies because whatever chain CCs, powerful heals, or other tactics the horde does, the allies could certainly do too, if they could only learn from it instead of complaining and work together to do it instead of finger-pointing and fuming.

However, I also think the Alliance side has a deeper issue that leads to many frustrations. They don’t seem to have as strong a PvP culture in random BGs as the horde side. I say this because I can’t count the number of times Alliance players opted to go the PvE route rather than the PvP route. I’ve seen so many players run from fights, rather than head into one to help their teammates defend a flag. Also, it seems Alliance players would rather run south in AV to capture towers from NPCs rather than stay and defend against opposing players.

I think this culture and the other issues I mentioned are so deep that when allies are forced to fight, it often takes twice as many allies to win than there are horde. That is why all the horde needs to do to win in AV is camp at a couple of towers. It often takes too many allies to boot them out, slowing down the allies while the horde meets little to no resistance up north.

TLDR; there are areas that Blizzard can work on to help balance PvP better, but the issues I see lie more in the players and the lack of a strong PvP culture on the ally side.

@Juga, I should really use the anniversary boost on leveling another ally, but can’t decide between mage, lock, or hunter. (Talking random BGs only, no rated)

Mage: since I heard frost is going to be nerfed I guess I’d go with fire, might be fun.

Lock: I love my lock and miss her, but I want to have a rot playstyle with very low cast time, and not sure if she’s feasible…

Hunter: Is the only decent spec now MM? I really want to play BM because pets are fun. I could just go with that, but I don’t want to be weak.

@Callistos, I agree with you about the PvP culture. That’s basically why I think BGs should be mixed faction. It would solve a lot, IMO.

ok so, if you are getting chain CC’d and you are using Adaptation that is simply to be expected. Medallion or relentless with human racial. Adaptation is for leveling so you don’t get dismounted if you get CC’d and break it
