PVP is so boring now. Can't you fix it?

I remember being excited to do PVP in this game, but now, it is the most hideously boring activity ever. Battlegrounds were always my favorite thing, and something I really looked forward to. The problem is that the same boring battlegrounds keep coming up in rotation over and over again even though they are poorly designed, give a little reward, and our relatively frustrating. Here are some examples

Wintergrasp. You either win, or lose. There is no in between. What I mean by that is, if you’re on the losing side, you’re going to get crushed, and spend at least 40+ minutes getting almost no honor because your team can’t kill anyone, and the other team is mopping the floor with you

Deepwind Gorge. So much better after the update and taking out that weird capture the flag element of it. But still, the map is ugly as heck, and incredibly boring. It’s also very frustrating because you don’t get honorable defender from sitting on the bases and defending them, so an immediate chunk of honor is lost right there. This seems to come up a lot, and is one of the worst BG

Silvershard Mines. Incredible battleground. I wish we had more like this. I don’t seem to get many of these anymore at all. Out of like 20 battlegrounds, I’ll get two

Eye of the Storm. Another banger, this one is such a really fun battleground that I love to play on. Players are always saying in the battleground that this is their favorite, really brings that core memories. Out of 20 battlegrounds I only got it once in rotation. It’s sad that this is the most fun battleground, that we never, ever get it

Warsong gulch: This battleground sucks the most of all. Honestly the worst besides twin peaks. To the flag is a dead element in PvP, and Ford always seems to just go out and play team deathmatch in the middle, put no effort into winning whatsoever. It’s really puzzling. Is battleground is just not as fun as it used to be

Isle of conquest. Hilariously fun massive battleground, but doesn’t award very much honor. Which is really sad. This was one of my favorite of all time. It also doesn’t come up in rotation nearly as much anymore either

Strand of the ancients. I can see why people hated this one, but I had no problem with it at all. I thought it was rather pleasant and fun. But I get why they removed it. Still kind of mystifies me though that they would remove it entirely, and I think it was a bad decision for this game.

Overall, there is a mediocre selection of battlegrounds, and the ones that are really fun like eye of the Storm and Isle of conquest don’t seem to come up and rotation very often at all.

There’s also a really big issue about Honor gain. It’s really tough to gain on her even with this bonus event. Trying to max out at 15k honor to collect some old appearances or get my gear upgraded was a real challenge

Hard disagree. They gutted a good BG.

Also, bring back Strand.

How dare you mention “fun” being apart of it. If you’re not doing arena style combat are you even modern pvp? Even though WoWs pvp popularity was built on everything but arena, how dare you mention bgs here.

You don’t like flag battlegrounds but you enjoy eye of the storm which also uses flags to get points

I wouldn’t say they gutted a good BG. It was a bad BG that heavily favored having a class like DH on your team, which for random BGs was miserable RNG.

But the version we have now is the worst base-capturing BG out of all of them. Spend 80% of your time running aimlessly. Or if you’re defending you usually get out-numbered quick.

But I agree on bringing back SOA.

I hate olives. But if someone made Macaroni Salad and it had green olives partially in it, I could still eat it because the green olive flavor is heavily masked by other things I enjoy.

Eye isn’t a flag BG. It’s a base-capture BG with a flag element which mostly comes into play when the bases are stalemated 2-2.

But… for OP to say flag-capping is dead and are the worst BG’s is even more wild.

Alright, fair points.

It might have been interesting to see how Deepwind would have evolved as classes have changed over the years.

I think I also hate that they changed the layout so much, especially the market in the middle, feels very arena-esque. It’s probably also just too damn big. (Hence the running aimlessly part).

I mean, it’s fairly obvious why Wintergrasp pops up “way more” than the other maps - it’s a revolving door of empty team slots since players are constantly leaving it lol

As long as it remains imbalanced/the map conitnues to favor defense this will continue to be a problem

The whole map should just be “taken down for maintenance” or something and removed from the rotation until the devs can get it balanced, idk

No, the winning conditions for strands of the ancient were so mysterious and whack, it needed to be deleted from existence.

Break down the door. Stop the other guys from breaking down the door.

Which was unfair. Because if the other team broke the door own in 4minutes, your team had 4minutes or less, which was often impossible and NOT fair when the first team had like 20minutes. That’s why it was removed, it was the most unfair bg ever for 1 team, giving a HUGE disadvantage. That’s what I mean by mysterious, why does 2nd team have a short time to beat?

But they didn’t need 20 minutes, they only needed 4 minutes.

Whichever team posts the shorter time wins. They just don’t bother playing out the last 10 minutes of the match if there’s no way that the attacking team can win - it’s like a walkoff homer. They lost, there’s no point making them wait around to see how bad.

Which was the reason it was removed, it was a terrible experience for the 2nd team always.

What do you mean by “second team”?

EACH team had an equal shot at knocking the door down. The first team on attack sets the baseline. If the second team can beat that baseline, they win.

It was simple, as in:

Believe it or not, it was probably the most balanced BG they’ve ever made.

Equal shot? The 2nd team had a baseline time to beat which wasn’t fair. The first team had a huge alloted time to take the place. Equal shot = both teams get SAME starting time.

It’s pretty clear that you’re incapable of understanding the win condition for that BG, regardless how simplistically we try to break it down.

The first team has 20 minutes to be held off. If they knock the door down in 4 minutes, that’s the time to be beaten, they didn’t NEED 20 minutes. The second team doesn’t NEED more than 4 minutes, because anything more is obviously more than what the first team needed. Again, SHORTEST TIME WINS.

Dude, this was painfully, transparently obvious to anyone who ever actually played the BG.
