Honestly, a story that focused more on the world and less on the lame, overplayed faction war they’ve been pushing would feel less generic to me at this point. They have this huge, interesting world full of cool lore and they do almost nothing with it because it seems like all their focus goes to making the Alliance and Horde fight for increasingly contrived reasons.
It worked in the RTS, it worked in Vanilla, but by this point it’s just a joke. And if they’re not going to do anything good with the faction divide, why have it at all?
I don’t know, i read all the time that insert some feature of BFA is dying, that i already don’t care. Maybe everything it’s true and Bwonsamdi is taking the soul of the game bit by bit.
Dark Iron racial is barely even worth it anymore. For DPS purposes it’s literally a worse version of Bloodfury until you cleanse off four or more effects at once, and it was always worse then Stoneform for defence.
It is, but it’s been used incredibly poorly for going on ten years now - why not innovate and explore something different with the massive universe they’ve built?
Just focusing on the Alliance and Horde, at the expense of everything else, when it clearly isn’t working for interesting stories or settings seems a bit shortsighted, to put it lightly.
… Not to mention the arguably most interesting WarCraft game was the one that added a few more factions to the mix, and lessened the focus on Orcs VS Humans (WC3).
There has always been 1 side that is somewhat dominant but things used to feel a bit more even at least on the PVP side of things. From my point of view racials are way less of an issue than merc mode. Currently there just really isn’t any downside to playing horde in casual PvP. If horde is doing good you get to keep winning and if they are doing bad you can just go alliance and get a shorter queue.
If you are alliance you have to suffer through whoever is on at the time because there are so few people queuing you end up with a lot of the same people in the next match. This can lead to frustrating things like chain losses, lack of healers and people dropping out with no replacements to come in. In addition your chances of getting queued into a half finished loss are much higher.
The longer they keep things like this players on alliance will do 1 of 2 things. 1) stop queueing for pvp 2) switch to horde to have more options. You’d have to really like night elves or only play during alliance win times to do otherwise.
It’s not just for PvP though, the Alliance PvE scene is honestly in not much better shape then PvP. If Blizzard lets this trend continue (among things, like say I dunno let BfA be the Horde Only show like they have been) then it’s only going to lead to the Alliance playerbase resting six feet under.
Racials have always been a marginal thing, with maybe an exception to original WotF, Fear Ward, and EMFH.
The fault lies with the community for being sheep. Guilds vying for world first suddenly race or faction swap, and suddenly “it’s the meta!” and the lemmings swap, when for them it’s far, far from what is holding them back from winning.
Oh don’t get me wrong, the playerbase is down all around, but it’s happening on Alliance much quicker, every piece of data out there (leaderboards, M+ rankings, Mythic/Heroic guild clears) points to this.
I’m not sure if the imbalance can be fixed at this point. Or if the Developers even want to fix it, really. Just wish Blizzard would throw the Alliance a couple of bones, answer some actual Allied Race requests rather than this game of, ‘Corrupt-A-Wish,’ we’ve been dealing with so far.
