I know it’s been said a million times before but it needs to be said again. PvP is a laughing, sad joke that the developers clearly care nothing about. Who in there right mind thought that someone with top end gear should be a literal god compared to someone with fully upgraded honor gear? There seriously is no reason to pvp whatsoever anymore.
How about for fun? No, there is no fun going against a team with 10k more hp than you while stomping you in a heartbeat just because they either got carried to achieve such gear, or started early before arena was a game of gear > skill like it is today. I tried to give 9.1 a chance I really did, I thought “maybe the honor gear wont be such a huge difference from the top mythic or rated gear” boy was I wrong. There is no point in doing battlegrounds, there is no point in doing any type of pvp unless you’re geared out the BUTT.
It’s like blizzard intentionally made the rated and end mythic gear SOO much better on purpose just so people can continue to pay for carriers which cost GOLD which people pay for with $$ (WoW tokens if you didnt get the hint). Someone with top end gear should NOT be a demi god vs someone with mid-range gear it has completely destroyed the pvp in this game entirely.
Character progression exists. iLvl gain is a form of progression. If you’re not doing the highest end content, you don’t need the highest iLvl. It has always been awful to be lower iLvl. This is nothing new.
These are problems they acknowledged and took steps to resolve many moons ago. Here we are again. Time is a flat circle, every hell we escape will be seen again.
Also ilevel is more important than vers when initially gearing. Point for point, stam is going to get you more mileage than vers will. It is better to go do korthia and tazavesh to get that up, then go right into rated. Tazavesh also has a fair amount of vers gear to boot. Honor gear is an absolute noob trap, there are better sources of starter gear that take way less effort.
At least you get it Frozenrune. It’s the reason I haven’t played in 2months. There is just no place for me in WoW outside of traditional PvP vendors that were equal ilvl. I used to play WoW and nothing else 24/7 (non-stop random battlegrounds).
I thought when they said they were bringing PvP vendors back we would get our Cata, MoP, and WoD vendors…
I think the main issue is that the devs/blues don’t really play PvP content.
We have ion, a former lawyer, as the head of the game. It’s well-known that he’s a longtime PvE raid-logger and his Shaman’s armory page shows he rarely PvPs.
As for Holinka, he gave a lackluster interview a while back and I got the impression that his hands were tied and he was “just following orders” from the CEO/bean-counter types up above him.
We can safely assume that most of the dev team is probably made up of PvE’ers like ion. So it’s no surprise they’ve dropped the ball with PvP lately.
Most of the game is turning in to a “what generates positive WoW token sales?”. Boosting generates a lot of token sales, so that’s why the uneven honor/conquest ilvl playing field is likely to stay.
These systems would likely be ridiculously fun if we had equal ilvl in the battlegrounds.
