PVP in WoW

This game mode still feels less cared for than pet battles. Any reason why you guys are still giving Blizzard your monthly subs?

I mean the viewership on most people streaming this game are pretty depressing too… Why are we here? I cant answer it personally because theres no reason for me.

I’ve been PvPing since vanilla. I use to spend 8 hours a day in AV back in the day just grinding out Honor for the next rank.

I can’t explain it but PvP in this game is more enjoyable to me than in other MMO’s. Every time I land a killing blow I get a rush. It’s not perfect by any means. And YES it most definitely could use some more love from Blizzard. But at the end of the day WoW PvP is still one of my favorite pass times…

That depends on which mode of PvP we’re talking about…

The “rated” side of PvP (arenas, Solo Shuffle, etc)? Gets plenty of love/dev attention, usually a few new arena maps per expansion (for example)

The “casual” side of PvP (wPvP, random battlegrounds, epic battlegrounds)? Literally no new content for 5+ years lol

I feel pet battles are easier to balance. Pvp has lots of stats and abilities. I dont think they can focus pvp simply cause one way would scare away people. Like taking armor into to it. I dont like that gear is important. Skill isnt always gonna beat gear. We have to worry about how geared someone is and then if their class is ftm. You nerf one side and suddenly it’s all dead.

Same here, it’s the ‘snappiness’ of the combat.

The feeling of being able to outplay an opponent and come out the victor is exhilarating.

The main issue I have now is stuns along with the huge burst we have- I feel PvP was better in the past. It’s alright now, but I miss MoP PvP, even Legion with the templates.

It sucks when every melee opens with a stun and uses all burst cooldowns, every fight starts to feel the same, kinda like PvE lol.

I just feel stuns and/or burst need to be nerfed a bit, PvP balance has always been difficult.

Theres wrath classic for old school pvp

I’m aware, but I still feel like I’ve ‘been there and done that’.

Too much improvement to quality of life in retail for me to go back. I enjoy pet battles and occasional world content.

Looking forward moreso to SoD this afternoon.

That’s old school PvP, but with some new twists.

I mean speaking personally, the number of people watching other people playing a video game has zero factor on whether or not I will play that game.

I haven’t cared about PvP in a very long time. I generally just play something else if I want to scratch the PvP itch.

Unfortunately this is also one of the major reasons why I unsub for like half an expansion now, no real reason not to. I feel like the PvE stuff in the middle is pointless considering if I cared about the story, I can just catch up on YouTube and in terms of gear, who cares, I’ll just replace it with the next season anyway lol.

Come play SoD today. There should be a lot of OWPvP at least for a while.

The only time I watch people who stream WoW PvP is if they’re playing the same spec that I’m playing and I want to copy whatever they’re doing. (Or if there’s a Twitch reward thing.) If they have fun and/or entertaining personalities then I might watch their YouTube videos about specific topics but generally not their streams.

fwiw I’m not in the habit of watching streamers of any other games either

If being arena and/or rated disqualifies something from being casual then maybe that’s true, but if you relax your casualness standards a bit, there’s Battleground Blitz

They announced a new battleground for The War Within and promised it wouldn’t be a one-off. So, maybe PvP will look better in a few years.

You know you done messed up when FF14 and Destiny are both releasing PvP maps at a faster pace. FF14 because, well, it’s FF14, and Destiny has most of it’s developers working on Marathon lol.

We got two new game modes in shuffle and bg blitz (soon that will be ranked) and were getting a new bg next expansion. Not to mention all of the pvp only changes they make every patch. I would say this is one of the best expansions for pvp in a long time and it seems like it will carry over to TWW.

“Any reason why you guys are still giving Blizzard your monthly subs?”

I ONLY PVP’d until late MoP. And by the time WoD came out, I completely wrote it off. It was just organized toxicity, and I got tired of participating. So at this point, PvP doesn’t even figure into my decision to sub or not.

The best PVP I have ever played was in Dark Age of Camelot. By comparison, WoW PvP is like a quake mini-game.

Yea but it was the best pvp the game ever had i dont get it lmao, you guys complain about retail pvp and you dont wanna play best pvp in the game

I guess it’s because modern retail PvP doesn’t feel as grindy.

You have to keep in mind I don’t have any max level classic characters, so I’d have quite a bit of gameplay to play through before even getting to max.

You got a few weekly quests in retail, and that’s pretty much it. You’re good to go.

Also, can’t be a gnome hunter in classic, that didn’t exist until Legion.

I just did a wintergrasp in retail, we lost in about 8 minutes lol, there was a premade on the other team with mostly boomkins, and we only had one healer. At least I finished my epic bg quest, so I don’t have to step foot into another for a while, already conquest capped as well.

I love the visual updates they did to Arathi and Warsong as well, those are my faves.

The fact that we got rank in the old game from regular PVP was so great. The system was bad, but the concept was amazing. And the rock-paper-scissor balancing was my favorite.

There a lvl 80 boost right now you can buy lol, oh yea god fobid you gota play a game to play a game lol

I just wanna PvP, and no I won’t support boosting lol, always hated that.

Retail is easier to just ‘jump into’, even though balance leaves more to be desired.
