PvP in MAJOR decline and here's why! Easy fix Blizzard

I’ve made several posts on how to keep PvP & WPvP alive throughout the entirety of MoP, but I wont talk about that right now because there’s a much greater issue at hand. That issue is that the Looking For Group feature is not Cross-Realm anymore.

This immensely decimates the Rated PvP scene that will have a lasting impact up until MoP. The main reason it will hurt it is primarily because this is the last phase until MoP and people will not be able to fight for the best PvP gear as easily anymore.

We have done a job every day communicating with multiple posts about this alarming issue. We need a Blue Moderator to address this concerning issue which is effecting a large portion of the player base.

Like me and many others, we play the game casually with PvE, but intense with Rated PvP & WPvP.

tldr; Turn ON Cross-Realm in LFG as soon as humanly possible!
Edit: Edited my tldr for typo >.<

why wont they listen to me cant they see i am a genius

This gonna be so sad, cata classic is so bugged, everything is going wrong in a horrible way, if this is going like this until mop this version gonna be even worst than any other version in the private comunity.

They don’t care about PVP in their flagship product, retail, why would they put effort into it in a classic refresh with a much smaller audience?

I don’t hate PVP but I strongly suspect that it’s not getting any attention for the remainder of cata. Last phase is out, its coasting till pandaland.

PvP isn’t only in decline in cataclysm to classic in general it is in decline across the board.

The reason for that in my opinion is simple the game is not built for PvP. Due to that WoW PvP isn’t an attractive option for PvP enjoyers when there are so many better games for PvP if that is what you want.

One of the major issues is the fact that gearing at all exist for it. Like having progression for PvP puts a barrier to entry. Another issue (according to the high skill players) is the fact that you can’t just turn on WoW and start pvping an expecting to be able to get to a high level… you first need to go into the world of addons and learn a lot of things. So the base UI just does not cut it for PvP.

where is the homie Kaivax when we need him. Arena is a joke right now, i know not everyone enjoys Cata arena, but there are 100’s that do. So cmnon before you kill this off.

PvP should die, it’s pointless, if you want PvP go play lol

I would pvp way more often if everyone had the same access to the uber bis pvp gear.

In a pvp match I want it to be as fair as possible, not just getting wrecked because little Timmy over there is 50 ilvl higher than I am while I can’t get the same gear because of muh conquest points or muh arena rating.

Well then you’ll absolutely fall in love with MoP. I just hope and pray Blizz goes about MoP the correct way and make a single balanced PvP server to solve all issues that we have faced before in retail MoP.

What do you guys mean when you talk about unfair gear? I started gearing my paladin 5 days ago and now i am 396 pvp ilvl.

The problem with Cata pvp is removal of rating requirement on gear , The ability to stack arena points over course of months until one day one of you suckers decide you going to lose all the way to the cap and then somehow get rewarded which is the same reason you play PVE. Becuase you suck and only seek short term gratification and the ability to blame someone else than yourself which you cant really do in arena.

Then there is other things such as being able to pve to get pvp gear from BH to justice points to valor points trade ins while the opposite is not possible.

PvP is just used as means to get free 403 trinkets, ect in cata. Go in without armor, lose 10 or so in a row for 75 conquest, repeat until geared. PvP in wrath was mostly used to boost chars in AV.

Every MMO that I’ve played in the last 20yrs, Devs eventually abandon PvP. It’s a pattern in this genre.

Well because it’s actually impossible to balance. Gear plays a bigger part than most people think and those that are ahead of the curve stay ahead of the curve, which disincentializes new players joining. There’s a reason why people play League of Legends or Dota or any other number games and even the professional arena scene that blizzard I think might still do it’s all using the same armor sets with the same item level because that’s balanced but there’s no way to make that happen and keep the water community happy

These are excuses, Gear isnt the issue here. Hydra got rank 1 in blue gear from thrallmar in the last season of TBC.

For PVP, myself a casual PVE’er, will never step foot in arena because getting stomped over and over is not fun. Occassionally I run ABs for fun but there are still a lot of time being dead.

IMO

Very few people want to play a game solely for PVP when there is such a large time investment to even begin getting the gear needed to compete that largely involves not PVP-ing as a means to get to max level.

Templates fix this, but templates also are somewhat antithetical to the MMORPG genre.

unless this fix is going to happen though some SOD update I wouldn’t hold your breath… they put zero effort into Cata…

Dont you realize this is true with everything?

Without researching your pve stuff you wont parse well. Gotta learn how to optimize gear, kill bosses etc.

Pvp is the same. We play X comp and you have to build strats to defeat each other comp you can run into. Build a playbook.

It’s like 90% an information game and only maybe 10% is the actual mechanical difficulty of winning. You are playing in an information deficit & just like in pve you can research how your comp handles problems.

Pve wouldnt be fun either if you were terrible at it, right?

Same logic applies. If you actually cared at improving you would & then you’d have nothing to complain about. The gear is on equal standing you can catch up in middle or end of season by just playing games. Easy to gear up & improve if you had the desire to compete. Which i assume pve players lack in their personality which imo is the largest deterrent to them pvping.
