Just wondering where spriest buffs are. I think I’ve legitimately run into two shadow priests this entire season.

The ‘buff’ is getting 4 pc, even though it’s not great and forces us into a weird game of roulette.
Jokes aside its really clear from the 2-3 reworks the spec gets every expac the devs don’t know what to do with it. Putting someone in who can just stick to a cohesive vision for the spec for an expansion would be a great start but instead we get these wild swigs in what the spec looks and plays like over the course of an expac and from expac to expac.

I’ll be very surprised if 4pc is worth the stat loss.
You can kill someone in 4s with it, 2x Deathspeaker procs with mind bender up is a lot of damage as long as you have it pre loaded properly. Make sure DP is up, DA, Mind games, Mind bender, SWD x2,MBX1/2 Torrent/Spike and something should die if you’ve gotten cross cc out. Pre purge hots/buffs.
There are a few different builds right now, the haste one that doesn’t use the 4 set isn’t bad either, I play it with 4 set b/c I don’t have the crafted gear. It’s no where near the burst but better sustain. If people there is going to be a lot of los I actually prefer voidform/torrent/mind flay.
that sounds like alot of work when u can just play BM hunter and spam barbed shot and kill command and entertain urself with spacebar jumping in between shots for way more dmg anyway

Eh, it’s fun seeing melee not know how to handle me running at their healer all game.
THIS. Everyone always talks about how a spec is “viable” then proceeds to ignore how much effort, skill, and comp/teammate support that certain spec needs to even have a chance.
Meanwhile you could log into other specs like BM, Havoc DH, Arms Warrior, etc. and smash your keyboard until you need to use a well timed Reverse Magic. There’s just no comparison.
It’s the same reason you see so few (good) Sub Rogue players, higher skill cap class. Shadow Priest as it stands now requires the skill of a rank 1 and the teammates to support and peel for you. Otherwise you are just a melee train target the entire match. Keeping DoTs up is the only real way to do anything in games like that because Priest mobility, utility, and self-peels are so horrible in comparison to other specs. Yeah idk. Ranting I guess. Just not worth it to sweat until your chair is soggy when other specs are less effort for the same reward.

The issue more or less is shuffle has become the crowd favorite and in a chaotic no comms environment like shuffle specs like that can thrive esp with rapid dampening thrown in.
Expecting peels and support is really gonna be rng most of time. To the credit of most melee even DHs I do see them trying and using their stuff.
Plenty of DH dark correctly and reverse as you climb, warrs intervene/disarm and try to setup a poly with stormbolt etc. Not everyone is brainless autopilot leaving you to your own devices.
edit: I think shuffle itself has made alot of playerbase better at PVP in many ways. The community difference pre shuffle to now I feel like your average player is a bit more capable.

True, though compared to Balance Druid, Mage, and Warlock (all casters), Shadow Priest feels the most tragic to play for myself and many others. Which was kind of the point I was trying to make— didn’t mean to be focused much on melee specs. Yeah idk. I gave up on Spriest but I’m just saying I understand the sentiment.
