Now, I know there is a 13k cp cap weekly, and a 20% loss. Also, it goes against what other players on your sever do, I got that. Wondering, how is it that I spent the last several weeks farming about 60-65k honor per week and moving up 1 full rank per week, filling my bar to about the same % as previous rank. After reading some sites about how much cp is needed to gain rank I decided to push a little more. So Last week, I did 170k honor (almost 3x’s as much as I’ve been doing and moving up 1 full rank) and I didn’t even move up an entire rank, bar to bar % wise. Went from rank 4 @70% bar to rank 5 @60% bar. As if the honor system wasn’t confusing enough, that down right seems broken. My calculations had me landing at like rank 7. Take into account the cap on cp, which if I maxed out the 13000, after the 20% loss, I should have been at least rank 6 i would think. Totally confused.
LOL, you don’t understand the system at all… The only person getting 13000 RP is the very top bracket.
Yeah dont even really know where to start with this post, just look up a guide.
BR 1 gets 13k RP descending
BR 2 gets 12k RP descending
BR 3 gets 10k RP descending
so on and so forth all the way down to 1000 RP descending.
there’s not much honor in wow pvp, is my impression.

I guess I’m not sure how the whole bracket thing works Trixxy. I’m guessing there is nothing I can do about what bracket I go into? It just seems to me that if I’m only going to get 1 rank per week, why do more that the 60k I’ve been doing?
The classic pvp ranking system is an absolute nightmare. It’s why they got away from it in later expansions.
The top brackets are held by guilds fulld of account sharing friends, and the needed amount to get anywhere close to those high end ranks is absurd.
If you’re not in the groups that are doing constant premades you’re left behind, and if you somehow manage to get the rank without being in those “cliques” on the server, you’re pretty much “blacklisted” by those guilds and anyone closely associated with them as well.
Honestly man, I recommend just casually playing, do what you can to rank up within your means, especially now with Covid 19 and downtime. But don’t kill yourself over ranking up. Get your bg reputations, and look into getting into raid content, the gear will get better.

I played vanilla Bozho and I remember it taking a good bit to get Senior Sergeant. I spent 6-7 years pretty much just playing pvp when I played, arena’s/Rbgs. I guess I just don’t remember the honor system being so jacked up…but then again that was 15 years ago and I did spend a lot of my time drinking and wow’n LOL
Did you participate in the AB weekend holiday? I got 200k just from playing then.

Yeah, that’s a large part of why you are ranking slowly. You are competing with those who got a boost from that activity. This weekend there is no holiday, so you should notice a difference.
Wasn’t even in later expansions, it was basically the first thing they ripped out going from Vanilla to TBC.
@Glinda, That is the same site I read on. Thats where I got the idea of how much cp was needed to jump ranks. The part where it speaks of 1.5x, 2.25x’s ect of cp over the previous week. So I figured almost 3x’s as much honor would have netted me a 2 rank jump, but not the case.
Not that I’m a math expert, but pretty sure I read you can only move up a max of two ranks in a week. And the higher your rank, the less likely that is to occur.
I gradually ranked up to R6 with just 10-50k honor a week over a couple months, then I started going harder at 100k a week for three weeks now and I’ll def hit R8. For reference 100k honor is within the top 100 ranks on my server.

Yeah dude, there have been countless nights where I have rage quit after dying in BG’s or just from pure discouragement of my own, hating the system.
Ive played retail for years and have enjoyed pvp vendors, arena’s and the actual ranking of legitimate ranks like 1500 - 2k, etc. To me those actually required skill and knowledge of the game.
To me, this pvp system is allowing people who abuse account sharing, botting to be rewarded and it’s absolutely toxic. Sure, many players play countless hours for their pvp rank in classic, and they deserve the reward, others don’t and they should be removed asap.
I have learned to just enjoy it for what it is, even though its very little to enjoy. Im currently progressing AV rep, 12k left til exalted and I can purchase an OH upgrade and ring upgrade for my lock.
Then im done with AV for good.
After that, ill work towards AB for honor and rep, but I wont get caught up in trying to rank up anymore. I really only want the upgrades from reaching exalted, ive totally given up on trying to rank after 5.
