PvP Holy Burst Help

A few weeks back a friend and myself screwed up and queued for an arena skirmish and on our team was a holy pally. The fight started and he didn’t even really heal and we absolutely demolished one of the enemy team’s players and we proceeded to easily win and we never saw this pally again. When we looked at the damage, he had actually done more damage than the two of us in the quick arena and when looking at his damage holy shock had done a ton of damage and I think judgement.

Anyway, I got bored with my hunter and I decided to try to emulate what this guy had done and I just can’t seem to have any luck with it. My holy shocks crit for like, 10k on enemies and my judgements only do like 20k damage. Is there something I am missing? I know my item level isn’t the highest, but I’m curious if you guys could give me some direction as to how to achieve that super crazy burst holy pally damage. I do the wings with holy shock talent along with 30% haste buff and I do the crusader strikes, but I just can’t seem to come close to the damage that guy achieved.

Indomitable justice is a stackable azerite trait that scales up your judgment damage if the target is lower health than you.

Its nice to be able to do dam as hpally but I find that I can only really pump if:

  1. I use my wings/holy avenger offensively
  2. the enemy team doesn’t have enough pressure so I’m getting lots of spare globals or holy shocks to use as damage

The cost of #1 is you have less ways of recovering during the opponents setups. So I mean I’m not sure that just going full turbo for damage as an hpally is correct play. If you can CC them on their wings it hurts a lot. If they trinket/bubble out then they might die a lot easier later.

Its always a game of trade offs.

Additionally your gear is pretty low for an hpally. Having more versa and haste will increase the damage you do, but Crit & Versa are the PvP stat priority for holy. Its also possible that your opponents are playing high versatility or they used defensive cooldowns when you tried going for damage. Hard to say what the issue is without more info.
