"PVP happening on a PVP server"

not gonna lie, that was hard to watch. Thatā€™s not pvp btw. Thatā€™s griefing. Especially if alliance canā€™t do anything.

Blizzard will never change it. And then the horde will cry when all the alliance leave the server and those pvp servers turn pve becomes of them.

This would be funny cuz ppl raids times and group activities would change so hard. Which ever faction has more ppl raiding on a night mean the other would own wpvp. And ppl leveling alts would be hurting there own faction for not being on there lv60 helping wpvp.

Let me start off saying I am fortunate enough to be on a pretty balanced server and have had a blast in phase so far, 2 butā€¦

I really wonder if the people saying ā€œits just pvp, re roll pveā€ at this point are doing it just to sound edgy and cool. Thats not a pvp server in those links, its a horde pve server, the only side that actually has to deal with any danger are the alliance. Its like this on heartseeker too with roles swapped.

The sad thing is even before honor people still did this as the dominant faction, its just even worse now. There are just some kids who enjoy ruining the game for others even if it doesnā€™t benefit them. There are 60ā€™s who spend all of their time on wow running around and one shotting low level players. Blizzard takes no action against this stuff because there is a ā€œpvpā€ solution, the problem is the minority faction is so outnumbered they canā€™t do anything. Skill just doesnā€™t matter when its 5 or 10 on 1, so now these unblanced servers are going to implode due to the greifers being left un checked to the point where they are locking players out of ALL of Wowā€™s content to the point where they quit.

Faction based ques gotta be a thing or Blizz is going to end up losing allot of subs, and even more when the horde have no one left to fight and quit too.

Would change for Horde, not so much for Alliance.

Wrong on a pvp server you can farm/camp any player for hours its not griefing as long as they dont break ToS of the pvp server. Thats the whole point for many players just like in the past is to push out the other faction. In there minds its the biggest win to get.

I do not care what blizzard defines for this. That is griefing. Thatā€™s literally what griefing is. The faction is so imbalaced, theya re griefing for ā€œdominanceā€ or ā€œfunā€ for them. Then once there ā€œfunā€ leaves, those horde players are going to cry the loudest for something THEY caused.

Tried helping some folks at the WPL flight point in Chillwind as it was still being camped by Horde. Managed to get 8, with a group of 5 going to Solo. Held the FP for 10 minutes against 10 Horde. Then another group of 10 Horde arrived making it 20 and we got swarmed. The group going to Solo then tried to corpse run then but were camped all the way.

Eventually, everyone decided not to contribute any more Honor and went back to Ironforge to sit on our mounts while playing Borderlands 3.

ToS trumps what you believe in unless blizz changes it. And the horde will cry in victory believe it or not.

Highly unlikely, they are going to cry because now they canā€™t fight people and have long queues once BGā€™s come out. They are just hurting themselves, and it shows. And you are proof of it.

Im on whitemane. Its a little bad. Not as unbearable as ive seen. When Tuesdays come BRM is owned by the Alliance. Sadly most are raid logging.

I dont think you understand the mind of classic wpvperā€™s they want to push out the other faction of the server. Thats the biggest win a faction can get on a pvp server. No one is going to cry over winning. People did this in the past and want to again.

Thatā€™s not the ā€œclassicā€ mind set. THe classic mindset wasnā€™t full blown sperg omg this game is easy.

??? I dont even know what this means. In pvp servers ppl want you to quit the server or force you to log out its a win to them.

Types of griefing

Griefing can take numerous forms. Some forms are obvious attempts at griefing, while others may be considered by some to simply be good-natured jokes or even fair play. Bear in mind that the intentions of the apparent griefer may not be what you expect.

As griefing is a player-created term, it is not recognized as a behaviour or any set of behaviours by Blizzard staff. Most of the time what is termed ā€˜griefingā€™ is simply an inconvenience brought about by interaction with other players. While such behaviour may be irritating or obstructive, it is not usually a violation of the Terms of Service, and as such [GM] staff will not intervene in these instances.

For a fuller explanation of Blizzardā€™s in-game policies, see the [In-Game Policies] articles.

Actionable Offenses

Though not typically referred to as ā€˜griefingā€™, and not called as such by Blizzard, all these actions are against the ToS (ā€œTerms of Serviceā€, as in [TUA]) and if reported action may be taken against the player or players involved.

  • [Spamming] (Though all topics are usually allowed in General chat, unless they are profane or insulting.)
  • Spreading personal information about another player, even if itā€™s false information.
  • Harassing, mocking, insulting players or Game Masters. (This includes creating pointless GM tickets such as asking for game tips or gold.)
  • Scamming, though what specifically qualifies as an actionable scam is a very strict and most instances of what players call ā€˜scamsā€™ are not, in fact, actionable.

PvP Griefing

Of the various behaviours open to players, Blizzard is least likely to get involved in disputes involving members of the opposite faction on [PvP realms]. This is to prevent players who are simply enjoying the rule-set of PvP realms from being punished for doing so. In general, players on PvP realms should expect to experience far more direct and engaging interaction with players of the opposite faction. [GMs] will not intervene in cross-faction player disputes on PvP realms, except in cases of extreme or excessive harassment.

In these cases, players are encouraged to find their own solutions to conflicts ([see below]). This follows the spirit of PvP and PvP realms, and can result in satisfying and even highly enjoyable resolutions to disputes. For example, players being repeatedly killed by others may call guild members or friends to assist them, turning one-sided stalking into full-scale [world PvP]. On [PvE realms], many forms of PvP griefing can be prevented simply by turning off your characterā€™s [PvP flag]

The actions below, although seen by some as dishonorable, are considered legitimate PvP tactics and will not be addressed by [GMs].

  • [Bluewalling]
  • [Corpse camping]
  • Graveyard camping
  • [Ganking]
  • Killing lower-level characters
  • [Kill stealing]
  • [Training] [mobs]

Solutions

First of all, note that just because a player does not follow WoW [etiquette] does not necessarily mean that he or she griefs other players. Griefing is generally always relative and is subject to someoneā€™s decision, rather than a granted thing. It is always preferrable to let the person know that what they are doing is upsetting to you before considering them potential griefers.

Some actions to take in response to griefing:

  • Griefing that breach Blizzardā€™s in-game policies can be reported to a [GM] and action may be taken against the player or players involved. See [In-Game Policies] for details.
  • Griefing that does not breach these terms (such as ā€œPvP griefingā€) can be dealt with in other ways:
    • Any griefing that involves whispers or certain other types of personal interaction can be prevented by simply choosing to ā€œ[ignore]ā€ the grieferā€™s character. If a griefer uses alts to continue to whisper you, this may be considered harassment and can be reported to a [GM].
    • In any PvP griefing, perhaps the best solution is to get some friends or guild mates to help out. Friendly players should be ready to assist you, for the pleasure of the fight as well as the opportunity to help.
    • When griefing is due to your character being too low-level to fight back, one solution is simply to log a higher-level character (if you have one) or otherwise to seek help from someone with a higher-level character.
    • Corpse-camping can be prevented by simply logging an [alt] the griefer will waste their time waiting for you to respawn, only to be disappointed, while you can continue to enjoy playing on a different character.
    • A cycle of corpse-camping can also be broken by resurrecting via the [Spirit Healer] at the graveyard. Be sure though that the Spirit Healer is far enough away from your corpse; when you resurrect, your previous corpse will turn to a skeleton, alerting the griefer that you have resurrected, and they may head to the nearest graveyard to find you. If necessary, travel in ghost form to another graveyard, and speak to the Spirit Healer there.
    • With any type of PvP griefing, remember that you can always simply log off for a while, or play on another character. Griefers will quickly get bored, return to regular playing or otherwise forget you, leaving you free to return a little later. If a specific player continues to grief you, this may be considered harrassment and can be reported to a [GM].

Notes

  • Griefing is not to be confused with [exploiting], which is also mainly against the ToS, but in some cases thereof more than just a group of players have their gaming process stifled. Also, unlike griefing, exploiting can only be addressed by the GMs.

What qualifies as extreme or excessive? Probably something like one group camping someone for an hourā€¦ but thatā€™s not what happened here. OP was killed by a variety of different people in different groups.

itā€™s 5 kills; thereā€™s a blue post on it.

World of Warcraft Classic

If you do not wish to engage in regular PvP combat in Classic, select a Player versus Environment (PvE) realm. PvE realms offer a limited and structured environment for PvP encounters. Players on PvE realms can actively choose when they wish to engage in PvP combat by enabling or disabling their PvP flag at will.

The following actions may be considered dishonorable but are considered legitimate PvP tactics and will not be addressed by our Game Master staff:

  • Corpse camping.
  • Tricking players into getting flagged for PvP (i.e. jumping in the middle of another playerā€™s area effect spell).
  • Killing players well below your level.
