PVP gladiator change

This was a hot topic I was seeing people argue over so wanted to bring it up here as well. Do you guys think that the Gladiator mounts and titles should be changed back to how it use to be in older expansions?

In the past you had to be in the top very small % of the ladder to get rewarded with them, but now all you do is get 50 wins above 2400 and you instantly get it.

I personally wouldn’t mind if they made this change. It would make gladiator mean something again and much more rare. Today it seems like almost everyone has it and you can just boost your way to 2400 get glad then quit PVP till next season. Would be much harder to do if you had to maintain your spot in the top % of the ladder.

Not saying 2400 is easy to get but the main point is they should rework the requirements for gladiator.

Yea it should be changes to only the top rated player on each server gets the mount

Really reward the skilled people instead of the losers

I think gladiator should be at a rank where it’s uncarryable. It should def be one of the more prestigious achievements, and def higher than 2400.

If you can buy it, it’s completely devalued imo :100:

wasn’t Varian a gladiator? He wasn’t a scrub, so it should be hard to reach that level for sure!

idc about mounts but I think they should lower the rating required to finish the elite set to 1706

They already have this with R1.

Although they don’t have a mount for R1 which would be cool for them to add it. They could just do a reskin of the glad mount with a bit more shine.

R1 does get seasonal glad title. They could change the title to something more “elite”?

2400 is still quite difficult, but there is something I have to mention, it still breaks my immersion to know most people simply pay for a carry for their glad mounts/2400 ranking.

Not really possible considering there are r1 selfplays.

The rating cutoff depends on inflation and season length. There was a season in mop where top 0.5% was 2330 or something, but in Unchained it would’ve been roughly 3000.

I think that they could bump it up to 50 wins above 2700 or something, though.

Yeah, it’s unfortunate. Blizz adjusted how glad works because it was perceived as a bit of an “old boys club” where you see 1k or so people and their alts/buddies get it, but they make it more accessible and a very sizable amount of the people who get it just bought it.

Heck, some warrior even streamed his rmt selfplay with zero repercussions.

I was not aware of that, do you have the channel by any chance?

Even people in Echo pay for carries, so it’s something where I’m too tired to continuously engage blizzard about these things.

I hope there is a solo queue ranking with it’s own titles.

First off they need to remove alts from rank 1 and just have them use only the highest ranked character (hell even have the title be account-wide). Second if they were to do your change they should the same with removing alts, since the glad mount is account wide. Thirdly, the people who care about prestige of glad compare number of rank 1 titles plus competitions done.

Yep, just can’t post it on here.

For sure. Shuffle has a ton of potential, especially with them addressing most gearing concerns.

that is interesting, you don’t think so? I think m+ has a pretty competitive system…you can’t be a +15 carry and maintain 0.1% rating in M+…don’t think they can do anything like that with glad?

i’m legitimately curious, since i haven’t really experienced grinding arena seriously yet

That would be the opposite of inspirational. Rewards that only a handful of players in the game have a chance at is demotivational to everyone else.

And on some low pop servers you’d be giving the mount to people who don’t have glad.

Well, obviously somebody that struggles at 1900 can’t be dragged up to named glad (r1), similar thing in keys, but there’s always going to be a way of getting people up there.

What they could do is make glad a little harder, and fix the means of cheesing wins that has existed since bfa.

Well guess the people gotta gitgud

Also dead servers still means they’re the best on th server

If only one player out of 50k participants has a chance at an all-or-nothing reward you want to turn it into, that doesn’t mean all 50k would “git gud”. Despite the fact you want one and only one person to feel special, human nature is that people will not turn themselves into slaves when they know there is zero chance at a reward, that the reward is being funneled to some guy.

The guy on the dead realm doesn’t have to git gud at all.

You’re just upset you can’t get glad at 50 and therefore will never be the #1 who gets the mount

And yes the dead realm guy got good, he got gooder than the rest of his competition

Personally I think the older way had more prestige to it.

Now you see a “gladiator” and it’s just like “Oh, you reached 2.4k…. Cool”

You have no idea what you are talking about. Do you think making up lies about other people makes you look clever?

This is absolutely hilarious coming from a player at honor level 33, who has basically done no PvP. Is someone paying you to make yourself sound so clueless?

it’s just a video game dopamine event, it is ok to be somewhat more liberal with it

the playerbase at that level and above is incredibly small, justifying less and less resources on rewards

maybe you want some more titles above 2400, and some incredibly minute portion of the pvp playerbase agrees with you

think you might be losing the big picture here

Yeah and back then it was ridiculously hard to get that stuff. I think a challenge is good but what’s the point of having seasonal rewards if only a very, very small percentage of players will get it.
