I think you’re missing the point Xuxu. These two points are orthogonal to each other:
- Players who succeed more, should be rewarded for their successes with better gear.
- PvP content should be a skill based game.
Do you see the problem? One solution, an average one albeit, is templating. Fix stats, make gear irrelevant, but you lose gear based rewards. And people would argue that the game isn’t just skill based at low to mid brackets. People will argue that really, it’s just a grind from 0-1800, and that’s when the real skill game that matters begins.
But that doesn’t mean we should punish the players who aren’t there yet by fighting players who crossed an arbitrary threshold (e.g. 1400 or 1600) and got better gear, but then lost a game or two and dropped below that threshold and are now fighting players who don’t have that gear, but are similarly skilled… That’s nonsense.
