PvP gearing is awful

Just returned after a long break. Glad that it was quick and easy to get full greens and that I can at least play the game now, but trying to transition into conquest gear is painful. What was wrong with the good old fashioned system of earning conquest, buying gear with conquest, then enchanting and gemming it??? Embellishments, sparks, all this crafted gear to optimize stats, PvE gear being bis in some slots, needing to work out all these mats and purchase orders, forcing me to buy WoW tokens just to be on the same level as everyone else??? Please don’t do this system again next expansion it’s just awful.

That’s…basically the current system.

It’s like 500g to craft a custom piece of gear, and optional.

I hope that they don’t decide against continuing to use the current crafting and trophy system just because a few people don’t quite understand it yet, which can be addressed in various ways.

You act like this isn’t a big deal but it’s bad design to make a counter-intuitive and overly complicated gearing system. It turns a lot of players off the game. “Just because” is underselling it a lot.

mmm the only bad part about is is messing up crafting while doing it and thats on blizzard wanting ppl to feel bad about it.

it is meant to make u feel derp. i 100% agree and know this

but a derpy system doesn’t make it bad. it just makes us feel derpy. i actually really like the crafting system and gear

You can do fine in a full set of conquest gear, but the tier set bonuses are pretty fun.

You can optionally convert your conquest tier, if you want to have it.
It will retain it’s PvP item level, but the stats are pre-chosen and many slots will not have versatility or desired secondary stats for a PvP build. Most players use them regardless because most of them are powerful and fun.

Crafted gear is optional, and gives you access to embellishment bonus effects to customize your character.

its just the derpy feeling u can get from crafting the wrong pieces. and they meant for that to happen.

crafted is bis idk if its right to call it optional.

You buy a few hundred gold of mats off the AH (after spending more on a weapon enchant every season for the past 15 years) and can pick your own stats with 50/50 weights.

They’re also…optional. Use vendor gear if you prefer.

I am currently enjoying the process in BGS whilst being a new player and getting more and more powerful with each bit of gear!

Crafting 2 items is a turn off for many players? We don’t need any more “dumbing this game down”.
Conquest is uncaped now right? You also have Green Gear, Bloody tokens, Honnor gear that you can get?

What items are those?

True that.

There is truth to this. Personally I think tier sets should be disabled in PVP. Should just be your pvp gear with crafted gear to make BiS.

I can only imagine next season where half of the classes are going to have strong bonuses while the other half is going to have mediocre passive ones, thanks to PVE. See how Blizzard is going to balance this mess.

Lmao it is not awrul its the best its ever been. If you find current pvo gearing bad well then maybe wow is not for you

I actually enjoy the vers soft cap and using crafted gear turned into pvp gear to pick stats on it. Makes gearing engaging or something.

Did you start in Dragonflight?

How do you craft the wrong piece and how is that any different than buying and equipping the wrong piece

derpy stuff man. i said derpy. the 2nd one is always easier to square away. like idk how to explain but like its easy to derpy it up.

like buying uhhh whats its called, the hellbound stuff. why would u not be able to upgrade it rifght. but thats just one example of me derpies.

people like this are why we lost vendors in the first place.

Crafted gear giving infinite stat customization and opening up an infinite amount of builds that were otherwise impossible is great game design.

In an MMO, the way you build your character should be one of the main skillsets. Thats what seperates games like wow from games like overwatch and league of legends.

I will admit tho that having a cap on sparks is really lame.
