Never really noticed that the catalyst seems to remove all the Versatility off the PvP gear put into the catalyst. If this is intended as a way for PvPers to get tier sets why remove all the vers off the gear? Ive never really had to use catalyst but the idea that PvP gear loses all its Vers because they cant add the ability to get tier PvP gear makes me sad.
It’s the same as it was in Shadowlands. It just converts it into the equivalent PvE gear. The PvP upgrade makes it desirable though since unless you’re obtaining mythic tier gear (iLvL 415-421) then upgrading the PvP gear will keep you on par with the 424 iLvL. You just have to make decisions as to whether to upgrade different pieces to gain/lose Versatility to obtain your set bonuses. As a warlock my gloves and shoulders will still give me Vers since my tier set contains those stats in those slots. You just have to figure out which of your slots have vers and whether you want to sacrifice it in other slots to gain your 4 set.
I think if they let the PvP gear turn into PvP gear we could have honor turn into conquest gear tier set to help people gear alts also.
Call me an old man but PvP gear should only turn into PvP gear.
It also wrecks the other stats half the time too. For instance if you’re gearing for haste some of the same slot item’s PvE stat is crit so when you put it through the catalyst you lose the vers AND the haste.
I’m mixed on this personally.
As a classic Andy, I find having to make decisions on which piece of tier to get for best stats allocation to be a good thing but I also don’t like the fact the stats on the tier gear are so PvE-focused when turning PvP gear into tier gear.
