PvP gear in shadowlands, why is BfA not meeting our expectations?

Still not enough to win over people who have disliked class design since Legion… :toilet:

Oh I agree my favorite class design was mop everything was better about that expansion

MoP was really fun, WoD is what I remember best though. Since Legion is what began the ability rental system and classes were gutted like a fish.

Stat choices should be priority . PvP vendor that allows access to anyone not just those with a PvP rating . Higher ilvl should always mean better (15+ ilvl or more) and Weapon sets …Meaning that if you pvp as a tank then if you chose a 1h sword the off hand shield comes with it as well , Same for casters picking a dagger . I’m tired of having to pick a staff because I gotta wait weeks until i see a decent off hand . We need World PvP world quests that also give gear.

Wod was good too wouldn’t mind that as well

No… just no. Wpvp is plagued with gimmicks like flying, imbalanced factions and tanks being godtier. And world quests are boring, so a no on that angle too.

Solid post. Re. #4, that is a bit of a tricky one IMO because I feel like some PvPers expect/demand a ‘one-shot capable’ level of gear over more casual players just because they choose to play rated. So I’d like a system where care is given to reward actually great rated players but not have their gear essentially be the same as what BfA PvE gear is currently like vs. BfA ‘PvP gear.’

To pull a number out of a hat, I’d like if max PvP gear power is no greater than perhaps 5-8% higher than non-rated gear. This would give rated players an obvious advantage but still allow room for the skill of others to shine even in casual play.

Also, I think some design modifier would need to be in place so that PvP gear is not good for PvE outside of questing and lowest/entry level dungeons.

That’s a horrible suggestion. If pvpers want to pve they shouldn’t have to start from the beginning and vice versa.

I guess finding that balance of penalty/bonus is the key to making this work. WoD level of balance between PvP/PvE gear worked well in my opinion.

If we have it too similar, then we get a situation where PvP gear will not be BiS for PvP. If we make the spread too far, it might discourage players from doing a wider variety of content.

15 item levels between e.g. Heroic and Mythic have been like that for a while now even before pre-legion. And for PvP only elite weapons increased your power, not any other piece of gear.

blizzard didint change the m+ weekly lootbox so i would expect the same thing for shadowlands that we have in bfa.the same conquest weekly lootbox grind.

since shadowlands is bfa 2.0.

No thanks. I stopped doing the conquest grind last summer. So tired of the treadmill.

Went to Rustbolt last night for some pvp fun, and it ended up capping conquest. All it results in is a weapon and shoulders in the trash.

Edit: I did get Servant of N’zoth though lol. Now I can kill horde and ally!

If you get into rated Bgs or arena you get better gear. Got a sweet 455 weapon this week. Got my mastery up to 60% finally.

Grats! I’m having issues stepping up from the 460 bow.

Yeah, time is a factor. My teammates and I have different schedules and availability. Yolo matches I’m not too down for.

I’d do rated but not arena. Arena was a thing for me in BC. Pillar humping wasn’t fun for me. Glad you’re enjoying though.

The conquest bar feels worse than the currencies we had, that is for sure.

The bar is actually de-motivating, especially seeing a sample of what gear is available, that may not even be the right slot.

Rated Bgs then! Got my bis traits on two pieces of azerite gear too. Lower ilvl but traits/stats > pure ilvl.

If it is Im done. Ive enjoyed all my years on wow but BFA was such a mess for pvp if they cant or wont fix it im finished

You keep saying weird things like this… Yet all the top arena players with access to the best possible PvP gear are still rocking 2/3rds pve gear?

Pika and xaryu are glad players with access to the best PvP gear. They don’t even mythic raid so they don’t even have access to the best pve gear and they’re still rocking 2/3rds pve gear

A more true statement would be “If you want better gear go do mediocre pve. Then if you do high end PvP you might get lucky 33% of the time.”

The top rated players also do higher M+ than some people here would do.
