What are the player expectations of gear in PvP? If BfA met our expectations of a PvP gearing system, I don’t think there would be nearly so many complaints about it.
It is not currently meeting my expectations of what PvP gearing should be. Right now I feel like things are way out of whack.
For me, the following should be true for PvP gear:
Higher level gear should perform better than lower level gear.
PvP gear should be better for PvP than PVE gear
Choice in how I upgrade my gear (vendors of old)
Disparity between low end and high end gear not too great, but not meaningless (e.g. rare vs epic PvP gear from Pre-legion)
I feel like this is the core of good PvP gearing.
What would you want from a good PvP gearing experience?

I expect it to BFA 2.0 with PvE gear being easier to acquire and better overall - like it has been this whole expansion.
#enjoyWoW
I 100% fully expect it to make some happy and others mad.

Agreed.
My addition would be - hope you like riding the RNG gear train that has been BFA, it’s likely to continue.

I meant expect
as in what you would expect in ideal solution to be, not what you expect Blizzard to do. I will reword my post a bit =)
Makes more sense now, ty.
Pvp gear that is actually pvp gear. IE: stat prioritized making a clear delineation between pve and pvp gear.
Vendors. Give. Now.

Yep. Would like to add bring back set bonuses with effects unique to each spec. That way can chase for bonus or bis stats.

They’ve been awfully quiet about anything regarding PvP in Shadowlands, my bet would be they leave everything mostly unchanged. Most likely PvE gear will continue to reign supreme.
Not being negative, just realistic.

General PvP
The covenants have granted access to their wares! Random Battlegrounds, Epic Battlegrounds and Skirmishes will reward Marks of Honor for winning or for close games. Trade these in for powerful gear pieces of your choosing, matching Normal raid ilvl.
Rated Battlegrounds, Arena matches and the first wins of the day award Marks of Conquest, allowing players to purchase Heroic raid ilvl gear.
Wins above 1900 rating now award players with Marks of War, the quantities of which scale based on your rating (players at 1900 will receive scarce Marks of War, whereas players above 2100 will see them in plentiful quantities). These can be turned in for Mythic ilvl loot.
Fill up your Conquest Bar each week and receive an item of gear from your weekly chest, based on your highest rating.
More Crowd Control effects now share DRs.
War Mode
Nemesis quests are no longer limited to Ashran and can now be completed while in War Mode or in any PvP environment.
New achievements have been added to War Mode for players to kill enemies in their home cities. City Guard transmogs await those who can slay - or repel - enemy invaders.
The Battle for Azeroth may be over, but some still crave war. A weekly quest has been added in War Mode to slay a random enemy faction leader, with powerful rewards waiting…
Random Battlegrounds
The deserter debuff is now account bound, and scales based on frequency of desertion. For shame!
Brackets have been merged and all players below 120 will be scaled up or down to level 60. Level 120 and above players continue to have their own brackets.
Certain objectives within Random Battlegrounds will now grant bonus rewards, such as killing an enemy flag carrier or capping a base that is under enemy control.
Queuing for specific battlegrounds now offers 20% of the reward of the random battleground function.
Epic Battlegrounds
Several adjustments have been made to the maps in Epic Battlegrounds, ensuring that matches last for a minimum of 30 minutes.
Rewards now scale based on time spent. A game that goes on for an hour and 20 minutes will yield more than a match that ends in 35 minutes.
Tarren Mill vs Southshore and Tol Barad have been added to the Epic Battleground rotation.
Deserting an Epic Battleground within the first twenty minutes now issues the Deserter debuff as if a player has abandoned three battlegrounds in a short period of time (30 minute account wide debuff)
All spell effects are now suppressed to their minimum levels in Epic Battlegrounds.
.
Alterac Valley
The polar ice cap at Iceblood Graveyard has melted, creating a secondary passage into Frostwolf territory.
A vicious avalanche has caused Stonehearth Bunker to be slightly harder to assault for Horde players.
The effectiveness of scaling on all creatures within Alterac Valley has been increased.
Captains Balinda Stonehearth and Galvangar now provide their buffs to players more regularly, and also buff Vanndar Stormpike and Drek’Thar if left alive.
Commander Duffy has returned from an extended absence and is once again stationed at Stormpike Graveyard.
All Commanders are now immune to pet taunts and all forms of crowd control and prefer to attack targets assaulting their respective flags.
Ivus the Forest Lord and Lok’holar the Ice Lord have gained new abilities, and are now more threatening.
Archdruid Renferal, Primalist Thurloga, the Frostwolf Shaman and Druids of the Grove now have increased health and damage and are immune to CC effects.
The Marshals and Warmasters are now immune to pet taunts and their buffs now increase the health and damage of their allies by 100%.
The Stormpike and Frostwolf Insignia toy now has a 1-minute cooldown.
Towers, bunkers and both Captains now have an Honorable Defender aura, increasing honor gained when in proximity.
Vanndar Stormpike’s Thunderclap now deals weapon damage.
New achievements added tied to turn-ins.
Isle of Conquest
High Commander Halford Wyrmbane and Overlord Agmar are now immune to pet taunts, deal more damage, have more health and will regenerate health when out of combat.
Siege vehicles from the Workshop and Docks now scale based on player item level, and have more health.
Controlling the Quarry or Oil Refinery now provides access to Gnomish or Goblin Spanners. These spanners can be used on vehicles to heal them for a % amount.
Reduced the effectiveness of the Hangar, and the Hangar flag has been moved slightly.
Assaulting the enemy base is now harder as powerful champions for each faction will appear at the base flag upon a gate being destroyed.
Ashran
Each faction now begins with 400 reinforcements.
The Sword of Wrynn has planted Songflower Seeds at the Ashmaul Burial Grounds, allowing Alliance players easier access to the Songflower buff.
Rylai Crestfall now deals significantly more damage, and her Ice Shard is colder, because the cold never bothered her anyway.
Warspear and Stormshield Gladiators have been training and now deal increased damage, have more health and can see through stealth and invisibility.
The requirements to summon Kronus and Fangraal have been reduced, with each subsequent summon requiring 50% more artifact fragments.
Wintergrasp
Sunken Ring and Broken Temple workshops now begin the game neutral
Towers now have more health, and the buff applied by towers now increases player health, damage and healing (previously just damage), and also applies to siege damage.
The Spirit Healer is now more receptive to rezzing you at whichever graveyard you request.
Vehicle damage to players has been reduced by 30% but all vehicle health has been increased by 60%
The goblins and gnomes have added Seaforium Bombs to workshops for attacking teams.
The number of vehicles keep workshops grant defense is now 2 each and external workshop grant a maximum of 3 vehicles each.
Players joining the battle after the first 5 minutes gain Corporal.
Each team now begins the game with 400 reinforcements, lost when a player dies.
Brawls
Korrak’s Revenge and Endless Ashran will now appear in off-Brawl weeks, for players that prefer to slay players for longer periods of time.
The rewards for the Comp Stomp brawl have been reduced.
Strand of the Ancients and Classic Deepwind Gorde have been added to the brawl rotation.
From the Shadowlands PvP wish list - #10 by Jugaa-arthas thread.

I like it.
Not gear related, but definitely pvp related. Get rid of warmode. I rolled all toons on pvp servers for a reason.

Yep. Covenants are going to be endgame system version 3, of what began the downfall of classes.
My sub is up in a few days, not gonna miss BfA at all. This whole expansion was just fluff.
As much as I want changes I don’t forsee any either. They have been stuck on this train a while and not sure if they are even capable of getting off it.
I’d love for reg pvp/pvp gear to matter like it did before.

i foresee specific covenants being good for pvp and some for pve i saw a few for dks and 1 of them looked op for pvp but who knows alpha isnt even out yet we will see
This will be like the 5th thread I’ve posted this on but with increasingly more and more posts and cry outs for pvp gear if it’s not delivered in shadowlands blizzard has thrown away their pvp community and shadowlands will be the last expansion pvpers ever set hope for and pve is all that’ll be left in this game

So far I haven’t really seen anything that gets me “excited” about Shadowlands. Anyone else feel the same way?
The main “selling point” so far is the ability to make Allied race DK’s… that’s it?
I can make a DK now… for free lol

The trailer from SL prolly had the least amount of stuff shown i have seen
but tbh i am excited for spells coming back
I’m with ya thus far. Not excited.
I watched Holinka say they are base-lining old skills again class wide. So they have taken a page out of the Classic book. Hunters get hunters mark, pally consecrate, yaddah yaddah. I’m meh about it honestly. Neither for or against. It’s just more rehash.
I’m not making allied DK. I already have a DK. Most people that wanted a DK already do too. It’s been available since LK after all. Is the allure of furry fox DK really a thing? Perhaps for some, but I’m not thinking it’s going to have broad appeal.
I’m looking for a selling point for me. Can’t find one yet. If I do get SL, it’s going to end up the same as BFA for me from what I’ve seen so far - a time sink only good for chilling with friends/fam on and not really about the game at all.
Several of the spells they are bringing back are just empty buttons like auras or poisons. Was hoping for more utility/mobility, you know something with an actual skill cap…

Locks get baseline teleport druids get cyclone and vortex etc some more out there but that’s all I can remember off top my head
