PVP Faction Balance SOM

Can blizzard implement something like balancing of factions so it doesnt get out of hand. maybe a xp bonus or dps bonus if the weaker faction logs on .

Maybe a hard cap of not allowing any more of one faction to be made if it breaks 65% of lv 60s population.

I would hard cap factions per server say 4-5k and not allow server transfers.

Balance will be okay as long as they don’t introduce same faction BGs. Most will choose Horde but instant queues will encourage enough to roll alliance. But if blizzard makes the same mistake they did in TBC then it’s all over.

Faction hard caps need to happen.

Q times are also of concern

right now in the beta it looks like alliance out weigh Horde

previous version it was vice versa and Horde Q times for AV sucked

maybe everyone is flipping teams this next time around?

would suck to get to 51 and have 1hour+ AV Qs…

Just make cross-faction happen → Faction balance solved.

That’s why the friend I’m playing with is just wanting to go horde for SoM. We want to play the less populated side. He did his research which showed a higher alliance pop. What will actually happen i don’t know. I’d love some sort of balancing but can honestly say i expect nothing.

right, hope for the best, prepare for the worst

i’m gonna push an alliance toon to 51 first to see what the AV Q times are like

I think alliance are gonna get rofl stomped again with the map imbalance and won’t Q as much

they should have the faster Q times in the end but we will see

might make a troll mage alt on the side just in case and let him collect rested xp

…this is unfortunate because I wanted to make a slew of alts this time around with the faster leveling, but it will be hard not knowing which faction to go at start

If I push and get a 51 out of the way and then I’m in the mix and I can pvp whenever I want, so I’ll have that

all things balanced and maintained, in the end queue times are not worth worrying about.
just go the more ā€˜useful’ pvp side
we all know which side that is

I’ll choose the more challenging side in the end which is the side that will need my help

which is probably Alli

hoping the extra guards give us some more fodder and make for longer more interesting games at the very least

it should

it’s not only that it’s finding a good realm with very active raiding

The balancing of factions seems to happen naturally the way people want. If people actually wanted 50:50 faction balance, you’d see them transfer off as their faction approached 60, 70, 80%, or on to realms that were at 40, 30% etc.

We see the opposite, so that suggests that the people who claim to want faction balance are either not very representative of those who play the game, or don’t understand their own true intentions.

Btw you’re using a fallacy of confounding effect.
not everyone in the ā€œpeopleā€ you mentioned is going to follow the ā€œperson/peopleā€ who threw off the balance before them.
every singular person who plays this is still just case-by-case.
not ever did a person follow what another person did in an alternate universe, much less life itself.
therefore, balancing will occur unnaturally not naturally and things will be imbalanced or balanced and blizzard will fix or not have to fix it after all said and done

Possibly.

It would be very difficult to accurately measure what an individual person wants. We could ask them, but how accurate is that likely to be?

OK.

Yep, and I’m willing to play either side. I played both in Classic and I do not care which side I play. I’d just prefer to ā€œhelpā€ the less populated side.

I played on a server that stayed mostly 50/50 in Classic. It was a really good experience and pretty much exactly what I wanted. TBCC has turned out to not be like this which has mostly just been a disappointment and it’s not as if the choice to avoid this mess has been an option.

I think I remember you and how much you love AV. Did you do AV at the end of Classic? I decided to rank at the end of Classic specifically because the games were very good and competitive for both sides. I ended up playing with and against the same people often which let me make friends and enemies even though it was cross-server. it was pretty awesome.

ya ranking is fun in that regard, I did that a lot back in vanilla/cata. Playing against the same teams and with the same people. It is a lot of fun.

AV died as soon as TBC came out which was big sad for me. I put a lot of work in my char. and I was hoping Classic would offer some permanence as opposed to every other WoW xpac.

I’m just glad we get another Classic AV to play in and with an extra twist of more fodder.

I too am choosing faction Primarily for the BG queues, thinking horde at this stage. Time will tell I suppose.

Nobody is talking about combat racials, why is this?
Que times won’t influence my decision on which faction to play.
COMBAT RACIALS will.
Are horde just going to be allowed to have the very clear advantage over their alliance counterparts AGAIN??
This is the deciding factor as to whether I will take part in SoM or not.
I have no desire to be on a server that is 90% horde.
I also have no desire to play alliance that is handicapped straight out of the box from not having comparable combat racials to horde.
I also have no desire in same faction Battlegrounds which will result when everybody wants to play the juiced faction.

Alliance will be the juiced faction. Horde is going to be the underdog.

And where is this info? I have heard nothing of the sort?

I don’t want one faction juiced over the other.
