Hey all, I really need some advice on the best way to conveniently and effectively target, switch targets, etc for arenas and even battle grounds… My biggest fail is going against BM hunters, unholy DKs and Demo locks… Their pets overwhelm me sometimes and I lose target. Give me something to help fix this please. Thanks!
tab actually has extremely reliable aiming if you get comfortable twisting your view very finely with your mouse before you use it. do thousands of keystones and you will be able to snap your fingers and tab to one mob out of 20 to kick it every single time
alternately try using tab for simple stuff and just getting in the habit of keeping your cursor center screen to click on things that are urgent or covered with swarms, cuz you’ll have to do that for totems anyway
You can go into the interface options and untick “minor” which should hide a few spammy things like wild imps (but not totems) and other than that it’s mostly a matter of just being comfortable clicking nameplates.
If you’d prefer something more reliable in arena you can have target 123 binds, but these can take some getting used to.
This is one time where I will actually use my mouse. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve lost a DK in an army of the dead, or can’t get my character to target the hunter because of his pets. So if there’s a ton of mobs on screen besides the opposite players, I’ll just click on their name plate on the right side of the screen, or just on their character. It’s a lot faster for me that pressing tab 20 times haha
This is the very problem… Losing the target… I’ll make sure to just train my brain to do that, click their profile. Thanks.
You can change your tab target to only target enemy players under:
Options -> Keybindings -> Targeting -> Target Nearest Enemy Player
Prevents tabbing to pets and stuff so its pretty helpful in bgs
Change your ~ to target nearest enemy player.
That’s it. While you can setup targeting for Arena 1, 2, 3… It’s a bit much if you’re still getting a hang of the basics.
The only reason I keep it is because if I’m ever LOS’ing a class with pets, I can target the pets to build MW and get heals.
I use shift-tab for the normal.
Did they fix it? They broke it idr how long ago and it was so bad i switched to macros fjnally
Yes they did
Pretty sure the game prioritizes casting mobs anyway when you tab
that would make more sense tbh
I bind target arena 1/2/3 to scroll wheel.
For battlegrounds not sure what is ideal, I just tab, click frames, and/or click the players I want to target on the battlefield.
Cursor trails add on helped me a ton.
Go to options > targeting and switch your tab key from target nearest enemy to target nearest enemy player so whenever you tab it will always choose a player
targetting is liike the biggest hurtle artm
I added this to my layout, and while it absolutely did take some getting used to, it was also 100% worth it. I found tab functionality simply lacking for Shadow and Subtlety, which need to swap targets with such high frequency and precision.
@OP
There’s an addon called RETabBinder that I highly recommend. I think you have to download it from a different site than Curseforge, but what it does is automatically swap your tab functionality to only target players while you’re in an arena or BG, and then swaps it back in other areas for PvE purposes.
