I mean the seasons I’ve hit duelist there’s not really any sort of huge gap. Seasons I didn’t hit it I didn’t really play the game in general.
And the only reason I played to 2.1 was for the illusion, cause I’m not able to hit 2.4 or glad. So that was my cutoff point.
And that’s how it is for a good amount of people. There’s no longer a viable incentive for people to push further than 1950 unless they’re people who consistently hit 2.4 season after season. Only difference is now the ladder post 1950 will be even more deflated.
“i honestly dont care as long as your spec is nerfed to the ground baby or remains unplayable ig idk man but ggs enjoy the xpac and all that jazz /shrug thx u2”
This reminds me why is there no way to see the duelist illusion in game before hitting 2100 or whatever the rating is now? Why isn’t it in the illusions tab lol. Isn’t it possible that some players may not even know it exists from pvp esp if they are new and can only find out by third party searching for it, but that would require them to know about it in the first place. You can see the elite weapons, glad mount, tabard, elite set but not the illusion. Just odd.
I like these changes, but would love to see new, more prestigious rewards at higher ranks that would incentivize more competition throughout the seasons.
Sounds like people don’t enjoy the gameplay as much as they enjoy getting a trinket to show off.
You also have to consider the nature of the beast we’ve all created. The instant someone upsets someone in PVP they run directly to the person’s check-pvp looking for ammunition to harass them over, etc. Has it ever occurred to you that spending more time with PVP players than necessary doesn’t appeal to a lot of people? Lol
‘Let me play 9,000 games this season with people who tell me to kill myself if I have a bad game.’
It really is both, though. I only ever started pvping in BFA because you could get azerite armor for pve. And you needed to get 2100 to get the mythic raid equivalent and that’s where my pve bis came from. It also got me some strong early gear with an extra weapon from the cache equivalent to end-boss heroic ilvl.
Also, they had the tournament realm and other games like gw2 let you make a character and instantly pvp with full gear. There are far more complaints that:
“it doesn’t feel like a real rpg” (which is crazy to me),
“there’s nothing to do” (there is, there’s just no power progression)
“there’s no real reward to work for” (despite WAY more cosmetic rewards/sets than wow, there is no “prestige” attached because you can get the same gear as a r1 player by doing the equivalent of epic bgs)
Everyone; myself included, wants to believe that people will always want to play a game because it’s fun, but when there’s a ladder with unique rewards, data shows that it increases participation, while making things freely accessible decreases it.
