PvP durability and dps?

Coming back after a long break, really haven’t played since MoP. Very interested in starting up a shaman as my main. Curious what people think about their durability and dps in PvP?

Oh… you sweet… summer flower.

Run. Run fast from this place. Do not look back. Flee with all your speed and stamina.

But, for a short … short summary. Resto is good for arena, the chain heal buff may make bgs a bit better. May not.

Enh is getting slapped with some nerfs, may still be okay, but … looks a bit troubling.

As for Ele. Well. Yeah. Ele… Probably best to avoid ele for bgs + arenas. IF no one trains you, you can do some nice things, but it really isn’t in a good spot right now.

These are just short answers, im sure in time the big wig shaman pvp players, or… what is left of them, will chime in for more in depth information if you need it.

id say play something else shamans arnt great at all right now unless you want to play for just class fantasy…but you can still thunder blast people so there is that.

I can speak for Enh shamans and tell you that the damage and durability is good at the moment. A enh shaman has the 3rd best overall rating for arenas in the game. If you talent all the dps pvp abilities at once you will absolutely crush people in damage. That being said, Gron is partially correct. Some of our abilities are being removed in the next patch which is happening soon. However, we are also receiving what appears to be a slight buff and some new azerite abilities that may seem promising.

I honestly don’t know why so many people on the shaman forums are staunchly negative about the spec at the moment. I do well in both pvp and pve with a little bit of focus and haste stacking. I parse generally around epic and though I have not pvp much on this character for this expansion when I have, I have been top damage in almost every match. I find it helpful to remember that idea that shamans are not always toe to toe fighters with the other melee but actually soar during certain points at a little range. Use your utility to your advantage and you will see that shamans are viable among the top.

That being said the new patch is bringing about some new changes that I hope will help more than hurt.

At the end of the day I say play the class you enjoy the most. Ebb and flows of the game will happen and if you don’t love what you are playing then why play it? Play what you love and learn to excel over the rest.

Didn’t realize I posted on my alt, here’s my shaman.

Your xmog is fantastic, first of all.

The changes to Enhancement PvP is without a doubt focused on Arena, where the Turbo comp was very strong. That being said… the changes to our ability to dmg to a single target was hit HARD. Very, very HARD.

Outside of Arenas, world pvp and bgs, i dont see Enhancement being able to really stand against any melee pvp spec at all. Even with static cling and chain lightning it felt like a toss up against other equally geared pvp melee specs.

This change feels like we will become melee sidekicks, unable to really engage anyone in a 1 v 1 situation.

Not sure if the talent and azerite traits are gonna refund some of that ability back to us, but fingers are crossed.

avoid the shaman class.
