Sometime in the timeline of wow I remember playing a disc priest that could not only heal, but dish out some pretty decent damage. I’m thinking it may have neen around WotLK timeframe.
Anyway, was this possible in Classic? Of course disc priest damage wasn’t top tier, but it was enough to put the pressure on.
If you had a mix of damage and heal gear, can a disc priest put out enough damage to kill a class (without the match going unreasonably long)? I absolutley love the idea. But unfortunatley TBC was released around the time i hit 60 so I never really got to experience end game.
The way I viewed the 3 trees:
- Holy - for PvE focused healing
- Discipline - for PvP focused healing
- Shadow - for PvP/PvE focused damage
But I may be re-maining a priest in Classic so I’d be curious as to others takes as well.
No no no, you heal. and you burn mana. that’s it.

In vanilla the pvp gear didn’t hve the +healing +spell damage difference I think this was only in tbc and dropped in wrath. Yes you can be a disc priest and do decent damage. Look up vanilla disc priest pvp and you’ll find a lot of priests blowing up people with smite.
Like you said, it isn’t the best dps of all the classes but it it for sure decent damage.
In PVP priests were insanely good, BUT this is Classic WoW so don’t expect to face tank every class… Just warriors because bubbles > rage bar.
That does require you have the gear tho…
Also it requires +DAMAGE gear, as +Healing is a different stat in Vanilla, so if you want to do damage you have to sacrifice quite a bit of your healing.
AKA making choices.
Unlike Modern WoW where you do everything.
