PVP by iLevel, Please:

Yes please. Random battlegrounds completely fail at the function as the ground level of PvP currently.

For complaints that queue time for geared players would suck, if all the geared-to-the teeth players go go play with their own kind in RBGs there won’t be queue time problems. Don’t even have to be organized if you don’t want to be, just do YOLO groups. Unpopular I know because then the playing field is somewhat leveled, but hey that’s not my problem.

Just more of the usual “nothing can ever get better, things have to suck because [reasons], deal with it!” posts.

I’ve had consistently positive experiences with RBGs. Understand the sentiment but with a membership base this large, you can’t make everyone happy.

I can’t agree with this, if you are getting stomped because of gear, then gear up. My gear isn’t the best but it is good enough for me to be competitive in BGS. All I do is a mythic and some rated every week and got to 214, it isn’t hard to get gear.

I think it’s totally reasonable for people to want to gear up within their preferred content (in this case, PvP) and be able to avoid content they hate (like M+). It’s technically possible to gear up in PvP but it’s not fun at all getting stomped in the meantime.

For perspective, imagine if dungeons worked like PvP does, where trash packs in heroic and M0 dungeons have a 50% to completely annihilate the group without recourse. Nobody would stand for that because it’s ridiculous. It doesn’t make any more sense for PvP to work that way.

That’s the thing sometimes you have to do content you don’t like. Personally, I play this game to BG that is it, but I know in order to be competitive I have to do mythics, quest, and Torghast.

Is each dungeon also only 3 minutes long and can queue again easily?

And buy all the gear from a vendor?

I was speaking about battlegrounds, I don’t mess with arena since it’s such a bad fit for WoW. Small form factor PvP is way too easily cheesed/tilted in WoW to be taken seriously.

pretty sad when you enter a random bg and can tell if your team has a chance of winning by just glancing at everyones hp

pvp ilvl should scale down or up to be equal

i think pvp ques should just work like areans where you que and you get slapped on a team and if its two alliance teams fighting each other thats what you get

This was how BGs worked from vanilla-WoD.

Even with WoDs scaling (which was cool) you still got punched in the mouth while obtaining the set initially.

We had the same complaints.

Then scaling happened in Legion and BFA and “we” pined for the awesome days without scaling.

And now we are back.

That’s exactly the problem.

Instead of applying a band-aid, Blizzard reinvents the wheel.

The ilvl gap become more egregious as difficulty tiers have burgeoned though, exacerbating the issue.

In Vanilla for example a truly good player could do quite well for themselves with a well-selected set of BiS blues + ZG/AQ20 epics all the way up until the end when it started becoming more common to encounter T3 players in battlegrounds.

That’s not even a remote possibility now.

Heres quite literally what would happen…190 lego, 226-233 Bis Trinkets, 226-233 Bis weapon, lowest level of other gear you can scrounge up.

Lego, weapon and trinkets have the biggest impact for your character. And most of your leggos power is from rank 1. It would just be twink 2.0

im not talking about legion pvp stat templates

im talking about up/down scaling of gear to an equal ilvl so pvp is about skill and knowledge of what other classes can do instead of guaranteed losing a game because the other side has a gear advantage. and again this is instanced pvp

Everyone is gon a have the same ilvl at the end of the patch relax! Patch probably isn’t gonna be until July or even August. You can’t farm up some 220+ pieces over that amount of time?

Pvp is the worst I have ever seen in this game. And I beta tested Vanilla. This is awful. Made the mistake of leveling this toon last and the gear discrepancies are insane.

Psst, if you’re getting rolled in BGs at 200 ilvl, the problem isn’t your gear. It’s you. I’ve been doing just fine on my 195 warrior alt. This notion that random BGs are overrun with people in 220+ ilvl is complete and utter nonsense.

if convoke was nerfed for pvp and the matchmaker was a bit more matchmake-y it could be pretty fun

Easy to fix. Just adjust it so the bracket you get into is decided with the highest ilvl of all items (both equipped or in inventory). Anybody who’s even dabbled in higher end content gets booted into a higher bracket, no way around it — if you want to play in a lower bracket you’re gonna have to destroy your high ilvl gear.

Or you know… add resilience back.

So 226 geared m+ players can’t stomp full honor geared people.
