PvP: Burst and Stuns are Out of Control

Not sure if there’s much else to say about it other than this is not fun.

?? How is this any different than any other time in the game?

You stub into burst to confirm kills. It can be frustrating, but I think it’s a learn when to sue trinket and CD issue rather than a gameplay issue.

I hope you find fun in the game, but stun and burst is the basis of PVP in this game. Can’t really patch that out or arena matches will go on forever.

If the basis of the game is that nobody actually plays the game and it’s just about who gets to burn down the other guy first as a matter of luck, then it’s not much of a game and it’s certainly not fun.

PvP should never take agency away from players.

Players should be able to survive combat long enough to actually engage with it.

And no, its not always this way. The game seems to go through these cycles where they get PvP mostly right and then somehow they screw it all up again.

Sorry dude but this is literally a “get good” scenario. Yeah some classes need their burst tweaked but I can guarantee that you probably just aren’t that experienced in pvp.

How does one get gud when they arent able to do anything because they have been chain stunned by 2-3 different 5-7 second stuns?

And yes, when you can watch multiple players go down in 2 hits, that doesn’t make for good game play engagement. Fights are over before they even begin. Where is the “get gud” part of dying to twice the amount of damage it takes to kill you?

Pop Quiz - What is a PvP Term of DR and what does it do?

Idk dude. If you’re this bent it really sounds like a git gud issue.

I was Warlord on my mage in Vanilla, grinded tons of arena in BC and MoP, came back to PVP in Shadowlands and was frustrated by the PVP until I got gear and learned to properly cycle my CDs.

The game is slightly different, but from vanilla to now it’s really been CC someone, burst, and collect your W.

Again, I hope you find more enjoyment soon, but this is the dynamic of the game bro.

I can pop barkskin for a 20% damage reduction. It doesn’t do much when the amount of damage being dealt is 150% of your HP.

The other DR.

Doesnt do anything when you are dead before it kicks in. We wont always have healers on the team or near by in bgs

PVP is indeed pretty bad right now, but not necessarily for the reasons they said

Have no clue what you are talking about.

You’re exaggerating.

If you have specific issues that you’re running into against certain classes then that’s something we could help with although you’d have better luck posting on the arena forums.

PvP takes a lot of practice and time to get decent at and I understand it can be overwhelming when you don’t really understand what other classes are doing to you.

Just say rogues.

It’s not an exaggeration. As a Healer I can get chain stunned for close to 20 seconds (if I manage to even still be alive by that point) in some fights. It’s not fun.

Just play enhance and one shot people.

Play turbo and tunnel your way to 2400 in 3s.

I’ve been PvPing for 17 years in WoW. 20 in a variety of games.

Stuns aren’t fun.

And yes, the burst is ridiculous at the moment.

I play Hpriest, Hpala, Rsham, and MW in arenas and BGs. It ain’t that bad. Sometimes you get clapped. Sometimes you don’t.

I will acknowledge that gear has a huge impact in this expansion. I wish that it was more skill based than gear based, but players of equal gear stuns/burst isn’t the issue.

I think maybe the frustration is with a byproduct rather than a root cause which is gear discrepancy.

If only they didn’t rating lock gear.

Yes, this late in the exp, I am pretty sure that jumping in now is going to make PvP a garbage fest of stupid.

Gear should be standardized the moment a player jumps into an Arena or BG. Nobody should be getting curbstomped because the other guy just happens to have better gear. That’s just bad game design.

With all due respect, this isn’t true. The meta shifts a lot, and damage has been much higher throughout this passed season than most. In the same breath, defensive cooldowns and legendary items have also been much more impactful than previous seasons, but the game is much more fast paced right now than ever before.

Previously, such as BFA season 4 for example, people had been complaining all throughout the season because games had taken too long, and whenever we enter a much slower meta, we’re often reminded of the sweet spot for arena matches which is between 3-5 minutes. Games end in 30 seconds - a minute sometimes right now.

There’s no question people can learn how to counter and become better. There’s no question people can and have found success in the current meta. But to say this is all the game has ever been is incorrect.
