PvP Build Idea for Demo

The main problem with demo in pvp is that it takes way too long to set up our burst and even when we do our tyrant can be cc’d or los’d. Looking at the necrolord covenant we get decimating bolt, we get balespider’s, sac souls, inner demons, power siphon, and then pleasure through pain. Theoretically would this be enough damage to compensate for tyrant? Wish I could test this out but sadly don’t have beta access.

TLDR: build for demonbolt to hit hard and not rely on tyrant

Heh I just posed this question a couple of days ago TLDR no it won’t be viable because pet still dies in 2 seconds to smart opponents and tbh the scenario you are talking about still takes way too much set up. Demo will be complete trash but I will still be playing it :). Btw that legendary comes from raid too. So RIP

lol demonbolt build has always been the pvp build tyrant is trash

I just came here to ask about this build as well. It definitely seems like this is demos only shot at being decent in pvp. I was thinking demonbolt build+you can pick up stuff from the dreadstalker build as well.

Not having felguard is definitely a big hit though.

I mean I was top 200 pvpers last season as Tyrant Demo before I took a 5 month break and returned at the end to carry friends to welfare glad and Bewitch got r1 as Tyrant Demo.

You must be a Mgodx fan… he was basically the only PTP demo who had rating in a EU Meta and he quit s4.

PTP build lost a lot from BFA to now with loss of azerite/neck and accomplishing large kill pressure demonbolts with any kind of consistency vs a good team. You still run into the issue of 3v3 teams killing your succubus if you ever use it… or it dying through soul link and then you fel dom a second one… you are in combat… so it never stealths… so they kill it again… and you die in the same position.

Talking different builds atm when it comes to demo is like adding homes onto a house with a cracked foundation. Until they change the pet summon/durability its going to handicap you vs any decent team.

Just my 2 cents.

Out of curiosity, would you say that demo is easily the worst of the specs when it comes to random wpvp encounters?

No in random Wpvp encounters its the strongest 1v1 bc you naturally have your felguard out and can’t get caught pants down with a voidwalker.

Don’t get it wrong in any shape or form… Demo will piece you up nasty 1v1 if the demo has a brain.

I am speaking about high rated 3s arena when I say its dead unless changes are made.

Word. Yeah, I get arena is like a totally different beast but had things a little backwards. Figured wpvp is when you (unless are the one initiating it) have the least amount of time to prepare, like if a guy or two just show up and attack you. I’m flirting with the idea of playing with a 'lock, and I have an unnecessary interest in what classes/specs my filthy casual self might enjoy in random encounters in the world.

So far my only actual interaction of this kind in my limited time in SL was a lvl 54 warrior surprising me on my DH and tearing me up lol. So I’m not like “man if only I was ___ I could’ve won,” but I know I’ll have plenty of these things happen and when we’re not 4 levels apart I’d like to have some fun with it (or be the dude jumping others)

though re: warriors and other melee, I kinda thought that if they got the jump they’d be able to have their way with you because of cast times and less than ideal mobility

I believe that’s where Curse of Exhaustion and Demonic Gateway become most useful. I’m not a pvper though

Yes and tyrant gets countered by every cc/decent comp in the game or feign death it’s a gimmick build. the burst is great every minute-ish if you’re able to get pets out safely which isn’t very easy especially in bfa… but against the tyrant if you have cc at all you’re fine and who doesn’t have multiple cc’s? demonbolts will always be more reliable because you have 100% control of what you’re hitting. bfa just killed demo for pvp they got rid of our pvp azzy trait and replaced it with baleful invocation so we just got screwed shadows bite was a bad pve demonbolt azerite trait that became our pvp trait by default when baleful got introduced. Tyrant can carry you through some games but demos won’t be seen at any competition if that’s still our strongest build for pvp in shadowlands

Also who’s Mgodx?

Oh this should be frikken good. Somebody trying to explain warlock pvp to epicburn.

He doesn’t know and its ok.

Tournament play is not what you base things on for viability because it is its own game of counter picks map pics and comp pics but you are correct you won’t see demo in tournaments with current setup, with all of that said I am 100% sure that none of the builds are viable with the current pet strength.

I mentioned that I ran tyrant build around top 200 pvpers before I took a break last season… trust me I know all of its issues/etc I am just saying that tyrant build is the build that demonology had the most success with in BFA even with all of its issues because you would lock the kill target down with coil/axetoss and use your CS/fear on offtarget so they didn’t get to CC it.

Slands could completely mix things up after they fix what needs to be fixed but unless they make changes to pet summon/durability its just not going to be a thing period at any decent rating.

Mgodx was the only decently rated PTP demo in BFA and was a EU player.

I am more then happy to see new warlocks like you rocking the forums and being passionate about demonology. I hope they make the right changes moving forward so the spec has some high rated viability so I can play it in slands.

Keep rocking brother and you will enjoy your time learning on your lock.
