Ive tried to get into this game. Ive enjoyed some bgs, even got up to 1800 in rated bgs, 1730 at one point in 2s in arena, but honestly…its just gotten boring. I thought it would be fun, playing battlegrounds nice and geared, but instead, I’m faced constantly with honor 400 etc players with max gear, and all I wanted to do was relax and have some fun playing in some randoms. I don’t expect balance, and I expect to find other highly geared/ even more skilled players. But what I didn’t expect was for every aspect, even unrated, to start to be based upon your honor and not actually random. Almost every battleground I enter now has honor 30+ on every opposing team player, and I just reached honor 30 recently, and am fairly new to the game. I’m not here to rant, or to start a discussion… Consider this a review. Personally, I just want to dot everyone and have a good bg…Dont care if I win or lose. But what I dont want, is for most games to be so 1 sided they arent even fun. 57kills-8kills bgs, in honor30+ bgs even. I mean, if you are going to try and balance things by honor, then balance it by everything else too. Otherwise, why balance with honor as it clearly does nothing. Bad design and bad continuation of a bad design. Already unsubscribed, but figured I’d leave this here for anyone feeling like me. Either let random be random and have a mix of high/low honor/gear, or make it gear based. Honor is an extremely poor metric, on par with people saying I have 2.2xp in rated or some other nonsense…Honestly, I coudlnt care less about a person’s XP, and don’t understand that metric if you are also taking into account current CR. Either you know how to play , or you dont… xp doesnt matter…Good players can carry bads up to 2.2k. Another poor metric for deciding bg balance. I consider myself to be an average player that does fairly well, even made a few youtube videos of wow pvp. But I am saddened by blizzard’s choices with regards to how “random’s” work, using air quotes there, as well as balance in general. Getting 1 shot in arenas to convoke or combust in .5 seconds or less is boring AF, and bgs are starting to get the same… Also having opposing players make rude gestures consistently to people they dont know during bgs doesnt help., Anyways, might be time to implement some changes before bliz loses even more players. I want to leave my review all over, but sadly the areas to leave reviews for wow are limited for players, so I will leave this here. It is my humble opinion this game has amazing potential, and limited care in the casual pvp department. If you are into arenas, perhaps this game is for you. Personally , I find arenas unrewarding and incredibly monotonous, with the same things happening over and over…Id rather watch paint dry, but I know some people like it.
No one has any idea what the hell you’re trying to say
For a seasoned player this is like water on a duck.
Questionable why it is even up on the post tbh, sounds like something new players to the internet would say.
Well, I’m not sure if they still do this, but during some of the previous expansions they had a separate bg pool for players with >30 honor level. I remember noticing when I crossed that threshold that the quality of play was sometimes better, but there were WAY more ragers, and players got tilted way more easily.
That said, I don’t know that honor level really matters in battlegrounds. You can get a rough idea of how much PvP someone has done, but there were some activities in Legion (or one of the other recent xpacs) that greatly inflated a player’s honor level. So that’s not something that I really spend time looking at. If I find myself random leader of a BG pug, I’ll usually bestow it upon whoever has the highest honor level.
Casual PvP may be tougher to curate in this game than it seems, because “casual PvP” means different things to different people. Some players take it seriously enough to get very angry about it. Some players have the “queue up and run around” philosophy. Some players try to play their best, but don’t let themselves get bent out of shape about it.
I think the in-match commitment gap is sometimes an issue in unrated battlegrounds. It’s pretty common to see players who have that philosophy of not taking it seriously or not trying too hard, but also expecting to win and have close matches. But if they’re not really trying, and not paying attention or playing the objectives, then they’re really just relying on other players to win the battlegrounds for them while they relax and tag along.
The emotes and stuff like that, well those are things that you just learn to either ignore or laugh at.
I logged in last night, did 2 Bgs and logged out to play another game… I didn’t do my covenant daily, I didn’t farm anything, I just could care less!
My honor gear is capped, and rated and raiders are getting more and more powerful daily entering random bgs. I see the end is nye.
did anyone actually read all this??
This was implemented for Legion, based on COD prestige system.
At the start is was a way to separate players with Artifact advancements to those without, Gated through PVP and PVE (Towers, repeatable quests).
It was our power creep/meta , and if players haven’t seen the Legion weapon power+ layouts, it is recommended.
Honor level remained for BFA launch, players/accounts with PVP experience (who skipped Legion) were put into a separate bracket from PVP/PVE Legion players.
Not sure what it even really separates here from a gaming perspective.
Off the top of my head, but feel free to correct me where I am wrong.
Started with the Weapon due to increased power, then just seems to have remained.

no offence but… would it kill you to use paragraphs?
Unfortunately Blizzard has failed to notice that in this point in the game returning players are likely high experience from a previous expansion. I’ve said this many times to friends that the issue is going to be the skill gap for new players. I wouldn’t even know where to begin if I’m being honest but it’s a large issue that does need some thought from Blizzard immediately if they want to see the game stay at a scalable pace.
I probably should have used paragraphs yes lol. I had a few beers last night before I typed it, and a whole lot of bad experiences from yesterday. Thanks to those that commented and shared your opinions, for or against.
The fix is to cap Random Bgs so players can play and farm honor gear and continuously play Bgs and learn get better, and possibly venture into Rated which is dying.
It just makes sense…
Right. If its boring then do something else . What do you want from the forums.
100% agree Drhaze, hence the unsub
Yeh dont waste your money on boring.
I enjoyed rated actually. Aside from the 1 toxic person in a group I found, everyone was cool and focused on winning. Rated BGS are the way to go IMO for this game, so if you are reading this and play randoms, get geared and go play Rated=)
This was painful. Its like turning on light mode in a dark room when your eyes are adjusted.
Why is this a bad thing? There’s so many good games out there dude, spread your wings and fly away!
Mr Gorbachev tear down this wall of text.
I agree man, I honestly only really have fun in random bgs is if me and my boys are 5 man queuing and wanting to dominate with our pre-made advantage. Losing bgs is not fun and random ques have too many people not playing to win and messing around. Rated is the way to go
