In Cata the brackets were changed so that instead of it going x0 to x9, it went x0 to x4, and then x5 to x9. So for example, levels 40 to 44 would all share a pvp bracket. However, given that the brackets even right now in Wrath sometimes struggle to full, I think in Classic Cata they should remain as a 10 level pvp bracket instead of 5. The only exception should probably be the 80 to 84 pvp bracket for obvious reasons. If they aren’t changed I fear most of them will be dead, especially with additions like RDF to the game as an alternative way to level.
Gosh pvp bg leveling in cata was the best! The abilities, the brackets… im nostalgic but the best thing was NO x9 Twinks! Those are my fondest bg memories leveling up.
and you wont have any games with current population levels. Every bracket now will be effectively doubled in waiting time, if they do pop. The only bracket I might see popping is the 80 to 84 bracket, even with its overtuned cata blues.
A small part of me tho is curious how AV would play if it were capped at 20 with no changes other than slight retuning of the 4 bosses. It would certainly change the zerging quite a bit.
Just remove leveling from expansions, imo. Either make it so that you can create new characters in Classic Era, and “upgrade” to whichever expansion, once you’re at level 60 (58), or just start new characters in Expansions at the level for that expansion, 70 (or even 80) for Wrath Classic, for example.
Do people actually enjoy the leveling experience in expansions? It’s watered down, easier mob, stronger characters, more experience old content for the most part.
I read someone’s post in another thread saying something like, “For all of Retail’s faults, leveling isn’t one of them,” and I have to say that I couldn’t disagree more. Retail leveling is an abysmal experience, imo. Of course, I don’t expect all of us to share the same opinion, so
Funny, I was just thinking this the other day and completely agree. Breaking them up this way; the queues will take longer. There simply isn’t enough players, particularly sub 80 to make this work in Cata.
And imagine if they keep a couple wrath era servers up. WoW pop spread very thin then. Cata random bg leveling with heirlooms for gold and lootbags was the best.
IMO maybe just av needs to the change. 61’s and 70’s should not be in the same instance.
As at 70 assuming you have 75K banked, one gets a very nice upgrade.
Now I took my upgrades last CTA AV to go where the other side’s 70’s went to try and even up the odds. I didn’t rush to stare at van’s castle. 70’s like killing SHB crew for timer wars, I was at SHB.
If not enough did that, shb still fell. At least I tried lol. Dinged 71 and off to that bracket in time though.
Leveling is the only reason why I play WoW. I level each class to 80. Then each spec. Then rinse and repeat each expansion. I could care less about end game other than to get heirlooms to make the leveling experience more enjoyable.
This is a pretty interesting perspective, imo. It’s hard to get a decent sense of just how many people play WoW, and what each person enjoys as their playstyle, but it makes sense that there are people who will prefer some aspects over others.
When I played WoW Classic during 2019-2021, prior to TBC Classic, I mostly focused on leveling, and was involved with dungeon leveling guilds. That was a lot of fun for me, personally, and I felt like I could explore the origins (or close to it) of various classes. I also played through some quests on Alliance side for the first time ever.
Anyway, for your playstyle, is Wrath Classic the sweet spot for character leveling? How does it compare, for you, with say Classic Era and Retail?
Even though I would never level in BG I remember those AVs where 70s in brutal were wiping everyone who was sub 70. 80 has to be in a bracket with 80s and not 70s.
yes i said 80-84 would be its own bracket even in that bracket the gear differential between the bottom and top is absolutely immense. We are talking about people with 100k hp vs people with 30k hp
Its a pita but…it works out in a way. Usually faster matches to end the pain.
Also that is a 2 way street. your teams brutal 70’s need to step up and not rush to play spades in the enemy camp for several minutes.
My latest dk run at 70 got her brutal. and I went to SHB since at least 1 alliance 70 would hit it every single time. I died there many times on the way to 70 to know this lol.
It be nice if more did that when more showed up. I did what I could to sleep better at night lol.
