This is Day 1 of begging Blizzard to pay attention to PvP.
you truly can not balance pvp right
Balance will happen when the fraction of specs represented in each bracket is proportional to the fraction of players representing each spec. The reason this is not going to happen is that some specs have lower skill floors and are easier to pick up than others (or higher skill ceilings and are hard to master). So you are right, pvp cannot be balanced, and it never will be in a universal sense without complete homogenization (note: I do not want this). Pvp might be able to be roughly balanced at one bracket assuming players take the same talents and that players in that bracket have equal gear and play equally well and have equal response times and use equally convenient UI’s and get the same amount of information from weak auras etc etc. Some of these assumptions seem false.
Day 1 of you begging, Day (insert digit in the thousands for some people).
It’s nothing new.
I don’t want it balanced. Every time they have tried, they have removed lots of abilities. The less spells and abilities we have, the easier it is to balance.
I have a grand idea how to balance WoW PvP. Ready?
Everybody is now a blob. No weapons, no armor, no spells. You go up to a blob and slap each other to death.
There. Balanced.
Look at the player base in Solo Shuffle. In all ratings 40%+ of ALL MELEE are playing Havoc DH. In all ratings 35%+ of ALL RANGED are playing Shadow Priest. In all ratings 42%+ of ALL HEALERS are playing RDruid. There are metas and I understand that, but how do we let the game get to this point. It’s not a meta anymore, pick this class learn it for about 20 games, and you have a general higher chance at winning games. Rets had this problem once they were reworked in 10.0.7, and honestly they’re still really strong along with being unkillable. I don’t want things to be nerfed to the ground but it’s either that or make everyone one shot like MoP all over again. I can’t stand using everything in the opener against Ret/War and still dying after diffusing their burst. You fear them both, they trinket because oogaa boogaa in wings/avatar, you outlive the cds, all you need is a single cc chain to win the game or start snowballing pressure into your side until their next big go. But before you can start the cc chain you’re already dead to a final verdict hitting you for 187k non-crit and execute for 200k non-crit. The game being this fast and explosive has only made more and more players drop off since SL S1.
When they pay attention to it, they seem to make it worse not better. Compare first season to 2nd season. unfun.
Both have been unfun. I’d say it’s been about 6-7 years since I’ve enjoyed pvp
I’ve been developing my own combat system while learning game development. It’s not that it is hard to balance it.
The issue I’ve ran into is that when it’s perfectly balanced it’s perfectly boring.
By adding enough complexity and a dash of rng you can begin to produce outcomes that feel a little surprising but predictable enough to feel like your own skill was a factor in the outcome.
This is what players asked for? Easy leveling and easy gearing leads to easy fotm re-rolling. Why do you think fotm rerollers complained about legion, bfa and sl?
