Can anyone explain clearly if this is true and on what bases if they even are banning AV AFKers for last week, what exactly are they looking for?
A bunch of people who have never played the game and don’t live in the US are going to look through logs and decide what counts as participation
This happened a lot during tbc prepatch. They use an algorithm, some combination of staying at one node too long and having too little or 0 damage and healing.
If you sit and defend a node, and no one comes to attack it you are at risk of a ban.
I guess my next question is, are they actually going to do this or is it all hear say?
No it’s true, friends of mine just got issued two week bans for AV afking.
They got banned for afking weeks ago or from today?
not participating.
My only concern is what their threshold is for a suspension. Is it only for people who find ways to not be booted from the bg while spending the majority of each game afk, or will the guy who is helping the team 99% of the time, but went afk a couple times over the 4 day av weekend get banned too?
This happened in Era too periodically. They generally go by Reports. Enough people report you, you’re added to a list, you’re basically all checked at once.
This character and two other accounts are suspended for 2 weeks for AV afk, so yes they will do it.
PvERs in shambles.
Edit : Hopefully the ban also voids the honor earned that week.
lol yeah the degenerate pvp players would never be the vast majority of afk’ers, someone who would spend 50 dollars a week on gold would never cheat to get pvp gear
Total non-concern for anybody who does half-anything in AV.
if your friend/guildmate/totally-not-you got slapped with a suspension for AFKing in AV

Falls equivalency.
The equivalent would be the PvPers afking raids to get BIS weapons/Trinkets like DBW in Wrath which basically doesn’t happen outside nepotism scenarios cause nobody wants to carry dead weight.
But PvERs feel entitled to griefing PvP just for parses that basically nobody cares about outside their tiny circle of obsessive nerds.
its funny bc ally who sit snowfall to deter people getting trapped north dont get much action but are easily contenders for MvPs of the game. would be crazy if anyone got banned for it.
It will probably happen.
And then someone from India will “manually review” 5 seconds of footage and give them a canned denial response on appeal.
There’s a solution to that and you won’t believe what it is.
Play the damn game mode you decide to queue into.
In a game mode where defending nodes is the key to victory, people getting banned for doing exactly that just because no one decides to attack there is not good policy.
I don’t care if 99% of these people are legitimately afk (many probably are). Someone who is actually there to defend should not have to deal with the possibility of being banned, or the appeal process.
These bans have taught the community that the safer way to play AV is to bot, like 50% of people in each game.
Literally anything but playing the game is on the table i guess.
