I do not like this one bit!
It takes one day of playing on a weekend to full gear in Honor pieces man
You cannot be serious with this topic, I hope youâre joking
I think the ilvl gap between Aspirant/Honor/Conquest is way too big.
Itâs backbreaking as a new player to catch up. In full honor gear, youâre a free KB to players in full conquest.
Itâs not such a bad grind if the power disparity per Armor Type was like 3% - but it ainât. Especially once Tier is factored in.
PVP has issues, this isnât it. Skill issue.
Itâs about like the gap between Rival and Duelist gear in SL, which was relatively negligible if someone is even remotely better than the typical random BG playerâwhich considering how low the bar is set for that statement it doesnât require a lot. (Just got out of a BG with a MM Hunter who genuinely sat max distance and PVEâd people to death for 15 minutes, kid may as well had been playing a phone game. lol)
But I 70 boosted a MW like 3 days ago and itâs 443 ilvl with 4 set already with me playing like 2-3 hours a day, so the catch up isnât awful. Iâm not overly motivated to min/max it, was just wanting a decent head start for next season, but I imagine if I really wanted to I could fully min/max it in BIS stat crafted gear by this time next week or sooner, and thatâs with me not playing like 6+ hours a day like a lot of people do.
Did you send it boxes?
Because I do random BGs as 90% of my content and I am astonished by how many people have no clue as to how gearing works.
Iâm talking people showing up with not only 500k health, but under 400k health.
I have literally just Disintegrated people to death. I donât know why people think you can just ding 70 and Q up as an optimal way to gear, but itâs convinced me weâd be better off with an ilvl floor and Aspirants gear being closer to Conquest than it is.
This is more of an issue with the strength of MM hunters and not really indicative of the problem that Zlyrax raised.
The issue is that a majority of the players that will do BGâs are on the very casual side and thereâs no clear path to bridging the gap between pve and full honor or full conquest pve gear unless you take the time to do research.
These people typically donât know the following:
- That you can use conquest trophies to craft gear with embellishments that are beneficial in pvp.
- What embellishments are.
- That pvp (conquest gear) can be used in the creation catalyst to access pve set bonuses while being a pvp piece.
Theyâre jumping in to bgâs with free 402-414 ish pve gear. With most people being in the 440 + ilvl range thatâs a big gap right there.
Then thereâs the gap between full honor (plus few conquest) pieces vs full conquest. Iâm not sure how big this gap is, but probably not as bad.
Nah, tbh I havenât been PVPing much the past couple seasons. Just get the xmog then do random BGs here or there so didnât have any boxes to send unfortunately. Just spammed some 2s.
Sure it is. I said a 13 ilvl gear gap isnât that devastating if youâre better than the average random BG player, then pointed out how bad some of the âbetterâ players play giving a scenario where a guy has little to zero counter play ability but does well because heâs allowed to just stand around PVEing from a distance.
Which, a mildly competent DPS in honor gear could have just went and killed the Hunter, saving their team a dozen deaths. I was rotating disarms and CC on him in between healing, it would have been considerably more effective if someone just went and killed him while I kept them toppedâwhich an honor geared DPS playing decently could have, was my point to mentioning it.
I thought this was a necroâd post for a moment.
Tier is a very small increase in power. Itâs a boost and creates a larger gap but itâs minimal in pvp.
and 3% per ilvl? That would be huge. Itâs about 1% per ilvl with a bit more the larger the ilvl gap is
The main reason it feels like the gaps are so big is undergeared players are generally playing a class thatâs new to them or theyâre rusty. New class + a 15% gear disparity can feel like 150% when youâre up against geared players who know their class.
If i took off all my conquest gear and put on honor gear on my druid Iâm going to feel about 12% less powerful because i know my class
My B
I didnât mean 3% per ilvl I meant 3% per âlevelâ of Armor. IE 3 levels : Aspirant , Honor, Conquest
This is the most balanced gear wise pvp has felt in forever. Some things are overtuned but if you know your class people playing fotm are still free hks.
Oh. That makes sense. Would be nice getting a new alt, sending these new honor tokens coming out and being 3% behind people in conquest gear but this is still the easiest gear has been
if youâre winning constantly in BGs.
I have and out of the last 11 boxes 3 were useful. The rest were duplicates and totally uselsss.
The box thing is laughable
not really , just spam epics w/l youll still get a huge amount faster then norm bgs i already had enough ofr 1 weapon gotta spam more for the rest gearing my dh atm . its not hard at all tbh . If your talking conquest well yeah its supposed to be a grind for the whole season you can spam any rated content n fill vault for a free piece even if u dont win much u still get conquest for doing the earn honor 1500 honor in this rated bg quest weekly thing .
ok idiot lets enjoy shadowlands gearing again
Itâs incredibly fast. I geared a character from greens to full blue honor gear in like 6 hours
Thank you for saying this. Especially as someone (you) who seems quite experienced at the game.
I wish honor gear would simply be the only set needed for unrated BGs. That would not only reduce the complaining about gear disparity but would also make things more fun overall for everyone - including returning or newer players.
[edit]
Also itâs not just the tier but the min-maxing people do with crafted gear and gem slots. I guess itâs possible (???) one could have such gear but be so bad a newer honor-geared person could beat them, but it seems unlikelyâŚ
