I know, I know, this is probably an unpopular opinion for you top-tier PVPers, but come on. Can we have Dragonflight meta NOT be one-shot builds please? It sucks the fun out of PVP for me, and I can’t be the only one. Oh, I know- “the high-end brackets don’t have issues being one-shot, so get guud scrub”… thank you for your advice, but I’m a filthy casual, and it sucks that I’m required to be decked out in 40% vers to not die instantly. I miss being able to dip my toe in a little bit of everything- a little raiding here, a little pvp there, maybe some mythics on the side- but the gap between PVP and PVE feels huge now. Maybe it’s an item level thing, I don’t know. But what I do know is, I’m super excited for Dragonflight, and I just want to be a hardcore casual and spend whole seasons taking forever to clear heroic, barely completing 10 keys, and having fun in battlegrounds/low-end arenas, and not feel like the game is playing against me for not being a great player, or having to have the BEST top-of-the-line gear to be able to enjoy everything World of Warcraft has to offer.

Have you checked out the gear system for DF? Looks much more promising. There seems to be a smaller gap between honor and conq gear. Seems that upgrades are available on the PvP gear but only apply to PvE content which is amazing.
One train of thought that your OP put me on: I wonder if the extensive talent trees will enable more precise tuning. Obviously the same spells/effects would exist to be tuned if we didn’t have the new talent trees anyway, however, I feel like discrepancies in talents being utilised in practise (some people taking x talent, others not taking x talent) gives a more direct comparison as to where the power comes from, in an OP class. Again, they can do this now for talents, yet more diversity in choice (which the new talent system undoubtedly has) allows more targeted tuning… maybe.
Edit: I have no pvp expertise. Got to 1900 in yolo 3s during MoP, then stopped playing arena often/seriously. There are better/more expert opinions out there for sure, take what I said with a grain of salt.

I really REALLY hope so that would be awesome i know DF is still in early alpha i just saw a few videos of “Envoker one shot build!” Or some title like that and i had that instant feeling of dread after watching it afraid of another shadowlands pvp
I wouldn’t be overly concerned about that. Yeah one shots will still exist, they’ve existed as long as I’ve played.
One shots do feel bad, I personally love healing and if I dps I like to play “rot” style casters (ele shaman, aff/demo lock, Spriest, etc), so I feel you. One thing I will say for shadowlands, though, is that every class seems to have an OP niche. Pretty sure my profile is public, you can see that I’ve levelled everything except DK and DH to level cap (I get them close but darn they feel gross to play for me), that’s so I learn how to counter most gross niche builds that are meta hehe. If you level the class that’s giving you the most trouble, you find very effective ways that you get countered and you can then apply that to others.
Edit: Sepsis rogues used to trash me, now I know exactly how to make them rage haha as one example

I agree to be honest im kinda hoping pvp goes back to somewhat how it was in BFA the moment shadowlands prepatch launched i remember it feeling very jarring with the crazy TTK (Time to kill) i hope im not sounding to negative DF looks amazing and im gnawing at the bit to play it xD i jist want to voice my concerns and hope im somewhat heard ya know? I love wow and i have since i was 15 never been any good at it! XD but love it none it less i just feel personally that the pvp and the gear differences in dungeons and raids in a single season in shadowlands has felt HUGE in comparison to other expansions

I personally hope for maybe MoP style PvP. Bring back the PvP specific tuning knobs! They were dope. Maybe cata balance but without the PvE weapons… I hated doing that raid but the weapon effects were too good to pass up. I actually look back on BFA arena ( the last season of) fondly, now you mention it…

That’s entirely relative, trust me! You and I will never be Wizk, yet at least we know of the existence of CC and interupts, that makes you better than alot of people

My advice? Stop watching the DF videos. Stop it now
It’s only Alpha, as you’ve acknowledged. There’s going to be some broken pieces of it, into the Beta as well (and we know from experience, probably into retail as well). You’ll end up being overly worried, being realistic we know some things are gonna suck on release… we also know that they’ll fix alot of the alpha/beta bugs before then no point exposing yourself to the concern, imo

Hes right. They would. And you also have at least 2 4th-wall-breaking asides addressing would-be detractors. Just make your point.
One-shoting is boring and hopefully they add a +20% HP to Random BGs. Arena as one-shot is fine. BGs should be a lot more strategic. Hopefully the one set of gear will go a long way to resolving this.

alot of people in wow want one shotting they love it it is what it is should it been in regular old bg’s nah. i remember my partners kid back in the day all he did was normal old bg’s and loved them he;d probably hate them nowadays.
Still lacking paragraphs. Not trying to be rude or picky. Just that posts like this aren’t appealing to the eyes and are difficult to read at times. Just like in the old days when people would say “wall of text crits for one million”
