Looked at the PvP vendors and it says that the gear is 13 ilvls higher in PvP.
This seems really dumb.

Yeah seems they forgot the bit about removing the rating/renown gate and it would’ve been the perfect thing.
Separating the two should’ve stayed as it was back when PvP participation was at an all time high.
Looks to me that they are just trying to stretch the content further by making you grind 2 different sets of gear.
Mythic raiders complained about PvPing for gear.
Now PvP gear is only for PvP.
They separated PvP and PvE gear despite saying they wouldn’t, because “gear is gear”. That’s out the window but they are still shafting PvP players. It’s all messed up. They’ve been receiving feedback for nearly a year since this system was first announced, they said that it has to be this way because of RPG. Mythic elitism isn’t apparent in the Devs at all…
They said that elites shouldn’t have to grind multiple gear sets. But everybody else will have to do that.
The entire game design caters to Mythic raiders and actively punished everyone else. That’s Blizzard’s “vision”.
Blizz hasn’t exactly proved themselves to be honest with anything. Using Mythic raiders is probably just a convenient deflection.
This creates more work to grind 2 gear sets. Pretty clear what their motivation is.
To be fair, no one in the PvP community liked getting nuked by raid trinkets and farming M+ for PvP gear in BFA.
No one in the Mythic and M+ community liked grinding CR for verse BiS PvE gear in season 1 of shadowlands.
What people really want is for PvP gear to be bis in PvP and PvE gear to be bis in PvE.
Just bring back the WoD PvP gearing system exactly as it was in WoD. Boom. Problem solved for everyone.
The mythic raid and high level PvP “communities” are small.
This decision was made to give ordinary players more work to do if they want to play more than one form of content. Anyone who believes Blizz’s dishonest rationalizations at this point is probably insane.
Again, not really.
Ordinary players were the ones getting nuked by mythic drestagath trinkets in PvP and asking why it’s okay for them to get globalled by a raid trinket in PvP.
Ordinary players don’t just play 1 form of content. Very few people only PvP.
Good luck trying to do torghast in full honor PVP gear. But it could be a new drinking game to do torghast with full honor PVP gear and see how high you can score.
Here is my PSA: PVP honor gear is a noob trap.
Irrelevant.
People who wanted to do M+ didn’t like getting declined because they didn’t have rival gear.
People who PvPed in BFA didn’t like getting cheesed by raid effects + M+ gear.
etc etc etc.
People don’t like getting absolutely destroyed or ignored because of some activity unrelated to the activity they are trying to do.
You are just like Blizz rationalizing a decision because of a very small minority. No one isn’t able to play Mythic plus because they didn’t have rival gear.
Has there ever been a time that PvP gear was completely irrelevant in PvE?
Honor gear starts out at ilvl 177 in PvE. That is absolutely pathetic.
First of all, rival/duelist PvP gear was BiS for tanks and several dps classes in M+ and so there were a lot of groups that would decline tanks flat out for not having PvP gear.
It’s not entirely irrelevant. Duelist gear is as good as heroic raid gear iirc.
That’s exactly what they’re doing or we’d have it simple like an honor set and conquest set without ranks/rating/renown gates, y’know like it was before.
It’s best they keep them separate however so Blizz’s precious raiders don’t feel compelled to do PvP to have the edge in PvE.
Sort of comical. They made PvP gear in the last patch way easier to obtain than PvE gear and in many cases BiS.
The best solution was making the two gearing paths equivalent, instead they made it so that there is no point in pursuing whichever side of the PvE/PvP fence you were approaching casually.
I PvP casually but mostly PvE - last patch I did a fair amount of PvP because the gear path was easier. This patch I’ll do none because the gear will be mostly useless to me. Ideally they would have made it so that I could fully gear doing PvE but if I chose to PvP there would at least be some use.
A ton of PvP players would rather not have to do any PvE at all, it’s boring. And when I say a ton I mean a ton. And yes, more often than not throughout WoW’s entire history, PvP gear has been irrelevant and mostly useless in PvE.
