PVP AFKers

I think if Blizzard is going to make adjustments to premades then they need to have harsher punishments for AFKers and Griefers in BGs.

ATM I don’t think there are any consequences for nonparticipation. I report every player that AFKs in the corner or is just runs in to die just to keep from afking out, and not 1 single letter in the mail about any action taken.

I exclusively leveled solo queue so I know how bad it is. If Blizzard is going to make a team of 5 carry them then they need to pull their weight IMO. If they don’t there should be a 2 week ban. Am I wrong on this?

I agree, and let’s see what happens in phase 2. With what we know, the message seems pretty clear though that Blizzard is catering to exploiters who just want gear and will actively harm the enjoyment of others on their teams by dragging them down while not participating.

(To be fair, the counterpoint seems to also exploit human emotion and compassion by pretending that premades are all professional WoW Battleground Athletes and PuGs are all elementary school body type 2s who are holding hands, skipping and are still in the clothing their mom sent them to school in, so it’s hard to argue against that, I suppose).

disclaimer: this is my own personal opinion. It is a genuine sentiment that this seems to be true to me, but I am not claiming it is fact. It is subjective, personal opinion

It’s always been a problem. Just wait till AV and 15 out of 40 are afk. The problem is it’s impossible to track… rogues and druids can just stay in stealth and hide for as long as they want. Flag carriers, base defenders, healers may not be dealing damage so. It becomes real hard to even track who’s active. Some people would rather stay a ghost than be farmed by a premise. I understand your pain, I quit bg’s and ashenvale long ago and just world pvp now.

They definitely have had consequences.

During TBC Classic one of my friends was capping Honor for the next Arena season and AFKd a few BGs. He got a 24 hr suspension, but worse he had his Honor wiped to 0. And this was before the buff to Honor during TBC.

So they have done it, but not very often I’m sure.

Brah this is a QQ thread from a pre made player mad at the single queue crowd. What do you want? maybe world of Warcraft logs for the BGs with 24 hour ban for all the gray parses? Premade versus Pug is lame get over yourself.

You can still play with 10, you just gotta pull your own weight and try, don’t make the other 9 carry you.

I got banned in Era for 2 weeks for it. That was era, the forgotten place, during the height of Wrath Classic.

You can definitely be banned for AFK’ing.

They should get more serious with banning or any punishment really. How about, make it so you need less reports to kick them and every time you get kicked the “Deserter” debuff exponentially increases.

It’s different when people AFK as soon as they see a premade.

They feel a win is hopeless, and statistically, they are correct.

If it was PuG vs. PuG, I bet less people would afk during the battle.

It’s an old problem too, even in retail you’ll run into afk players occasionally, albeit it’s less of a problem over there, because you can get reported/kicked for inactivity- if even just one or two people report a player, they have about one minute to get engaged in PvP combat, or they’ll be kicked for inactivity.

Not sure if Classic has those same rules/report for inactivity, but they certainly should.

I know Rated PvP doesn’t exist in Classic either, but if it did, they’d take a hit to their rating as well.

I honestly wish SoD did have PvP ratings aside from honor level, because I love PvP, just wish there was more incentive as a solo player, or options for solo players to play with other solo players.

I did premade vs. premade once, never again, the battle took around three hours, and we gave up in the end lol.

Also, maybe fix those holes in the fences, and other map issues, but that’s for another time.

I press M enough in WSG I can tell you instantly who is AFK.

  • they are out of position for their class
  • they are full hp and it never moves
  • they tend to be in spots that avoid conflict
  • it continues throughout the game
  • when I call them out they cry about being scared of the premade and not being able to see a win condition.

The SoD community has too many of those players I never plan to play it again until 60 and only if they quit. AB will be even more toxic with those griefing their own team. They will queue every AB and sit afk ‘defending’ the first base and do absolutely nothing.

Y’all can have fun playing with those players I’ll enjoy wsg on Era, in which nearly every game is more fun than anything I had in hundreds of WSG on SoD.

Make a female character and you can fit through most of them.

The common jumps / holes should stay - but fully out of bounds stuff (especially the stuff that requires speed boots / mount + jumping) should be patched. Anyone can learn the easy jumps or run around so they are fair game.

This thread has nothing to do with people AFK’ing actively, its about the pugs giving up after failing mid clash at the start against a premade, because they know it will just slow the game down and is completely futile. There is always one angry guy shouting battle orders in WSG how to attack the perfectly stacked premade and I just always laugh at them.

1-week ban for toxicity is the current punishment with enough reports

my favorite is when you join a bg and you get some smart butt doing an emote /you have been reported for afk, please type /afk to acknowledge you are not afk and always there is at least 1 person that will fall for that and type /afk

cracks me up all the time especially when they try to do the private message to you doing that… almost as good as getting free gold by doing alt f4 or pressing number locks on your keyboard (annoucing wow num locks opens up all your bags) on a zep flying over the glades on hardcore realm…

lol

This is exactly the case. When I solo queue for a WSG, and I see it’s a bunch of randoms vs a full premade, I’ll give it a go once. It’s quite clear from the first encounter how the rest of the battle is going to go. If there’s any reason to continue making the effort, or if I’d just be slowing down the inevitable loss.

I’m not going to give the premade the satisfaction of an HK farm. Fighting a coordinated group with 3 priests when you’ve got 0 and randoms, and they’ve demonstrated how futile a team fight is sounds like the polar opposite of a good time to me.

If other people enjoy slamming their heads into the brick wall so much, then they can go nuts. I’d rather get my mark and get out quicker so I can try again to hopefully queue into a real match.

I was in a premade v premade, stomping them (they were awful), but they had 1 druid who glitched behind the base and underneath the floor untargetable so it was impossible for us to kill him. 90% sure he also used speed hacks at one point.

We all mass reported him for abusing the glitch but he wasn’t booted from the battleground. Pathetic.
