The problem with templates were they were literally one size fits all(for all pvp content), hidden, and not viable for every spec.
if they had selectable templates it and a robust cosmic progression(which i think they were chasing the fortnite money with the idea) it would have probably worked.
I get it but I think you’re being biased since you get to do content you enjoy while gearing in a fair manner while us PvPers are grinding PvE so we can PvP (most of us PvPers hate PvE) just to be viable.
Most of us PvPers will be grinding M+ and raids for the broken PvE gear for the upcoming SL arena season and then to get good PvP gear we have to compete at a 2400 level in order to get gear that is equal to a player doing a m15.
Ya, I am surprised they didn’t try to make them better instead of just giving up on them.
In the end, you are probably right.
PVP on live servers does not ring the esports bells WoW would want.
The proper tournaments work well, but past that, I’m surprised there is any support at all at this point.
It worries me what the landscape will look like another few years from now, as the overall population dwindles, and the people who like PVP continue to dislike PVE enough to not like anything about the game at all.
No, I don’t, but I am lucky enough to be biased for sure.
As I mentioned in a few other posts, its either one or the other here.
Either PVP or PVE wins out in the gearing-is-easier debate, and it seems exceedingly obvious why it is PVE to me.
Either way, if PVP gear was OP for PVE, there would be people complaining in the other direction too.
And I would still be here in the middle, suggesting that the game is best enjoyed when you play it all, and that its never been Blizzard forcing you to do anything.
Only the community and, for some, a half-baked sense of “competition.”
i like some aspects of the game and am willing to support all aspects if it keeps it going.
i want the mythic raiders to have all their content as well. WoD had arguably the best pvp gearing progression but the PvE was dogpoop via skipped raid tiers and missing zones. the PvErs had my sympathy. same with the MoP legendary cloak that required pvp. i agreed with the pvers that it shouldn’t be a requirement.
the reality is BFA all around hurt the game. the Pvp community wants a dialog to help fix that and bring back players. its not to one up the pve community. we all have the same investment into the game.
Again dismissing the fact that for over a decade PvP gear was BiS only in PvP and at a severe disadvantage in PvE and nobody that PvPed had a problem with that. PvE players were also never forced into PvP content at that time. And during that time, especially MoP, both content paths saw record participation. S15 alone had 600k+ people on the 3s ladder, which paled in comparison to the number of casual people on the 2s ladder or doing randoms.
Your attitude certainly seems to mirror Blizzard’s, but it doesn’t have to be that way. The old devs knew this (and made blog posts about it). Why you seem to ignore it while trying to get a rise out of PvPers in this thread is beyond me.
Not you get to make that decision. If you want the rewards for certain content, then you most do that content. It would be no different then someone complaining about being forced to do PvP to earn the PvP mounts.
Now you can argue that PvP is not as rewarding (gear wise) and that would be a valid complaint but that wasn’t your issue…
