You’re right it does lock off potential revenue and hurts populations. We have too many servers as it is so it wouldn’t hurt to consolidate a few of the dead servers.
Yep.

Yep.
it was one of the most balanced servers in classic then tbc came and for some reason all the dead ally servers came over. Now it’s like 65-35
yes and no. heavily skewed servers will likely get worse with this. People arent going to gravitate to servers that are 20% their faction. Lol.
At least the initiative and blame would fall firmly on the players, not Blizzard. When you have a choice to do the right thing but don’t; that’s on you. When you don’t have a choice to begin with, that’s on Blizzard. Will allowing the transfers suddenly cause floods of PVE alliance to move to PVP realms? I kind of doubt it. But at least the option would be there.
The option deserves to exist and yes, I don’t think it will cause a horde of alliance (lol pun intended) to transfer out of one PVE server into an unbalanced in favor of alliance PvP server. All it will cause is allow those players who’ve been frustrated with the characters (horde and ally) stuck in PvE servers to rejoin their friends or guild in the PvP servers they want to play in. And that is the big win-win-win for the player, community, Blizzard, because it’s simply giving a choice to allow players to play where they will have the most fun, contribute more to the place they want to play, and Blizzard capitalizes on it with the $25 per character transfer fee all in the meantime.
I agree with that, actually.
Im just looking forward to the Mass pvp exodus that is likely to occur in preparation for phase 2 to PVE servers
And I consider any server skewed at least 90% a pve server.
I would agree with your second statement. I don’t think there will as big of an exodus though, but certainly some people.
In response to Frosto, the fact is server transfers are allowed and probably everybody but you right now wants them allowed, so they must be allowed for PvE to PvP as well to ensure fairness.
Look at the other threads. One talked about 5 guilds just leaving with 3 voting to leave this week. I personally count that as an exodus.
Too many people bought into the PVP hype when they were primarilly pve players. Soon as they cant do their PVE efficiently they will bounce.
So just as they have the option to leave for a PvE server because they realized they’re a PvE player, those PvP players who have characters stuck on PvE servers deserve the right to transfer to the PvP servers.
Sure, I dont care.
I was addressing something different.
Yes I understand that you were. I’m tying your topic into why the topic of this thread should be addressed and corrected by Tuesday (phase 2 launch) at the latest.
What is it going to take take to get blizzard to finally respond to something on this forum? Every day that goes by, you show the players just how little you care about this game anymore. Its really discouraging and just makes me want to leave and never look back again.
I think we just have to keep sharing our frustrations about the unfairness of this restriction and the simple solution that’s a win-win-win for everyone.
Any updates on this @Blizzard?
Make it so that you must have at least one max level character on the server you wish to transfer to (if being ganked while levelling is so important for some people), but get rid of this restriction
Some regions (like OCE) have a single PvE server, so any characters on it are permanently stuck there with the only option to transfer is to a region with bad ping
Yeah I heard that about OCE, really sucks for them, more so why I stand for why server transfers should be unrestricted, letting people go from anywhere to anywhere. As far as the people who talk about being ganked while leveling, they tend to be people who are already on PvE servers and who’d never want to transfer or level a character on a PvP server in the first place, therefore their arguments are irrelevant already since it’s non-applicable to them. Instead, they project onto others who want to transfer their characters (max level or still leveling) onto PvP servers from their own worries about it if they were to go there. And as I mentioned earlier, leveling today is drastically different than the way people did it back in the day. I highly doubt anyone coming from a PvE server who wants to be on a PvP server primarily to play with their friends and have a bigger pool of potential arena partners would want to spend their time ganking lower leveled players in the Outlands, let alone Azeroth’s contested zones (if anyone even still levels in those lol).
Remulos sucks for us in Oceanic, anyone who thinks it’s alright doesn’t care enough to play the game properly.
As someone who used to be on that server (big mistake) and ended up giving into moving to US just so I could still play my characters… it’s ridiculous.

Naw.
Sometimes I wonder if they’re even reading forums. This is ez money that makes the player base happy and they’re just leaving it on the table or completely unaware.
