This list is the usual standard raid composition however keep in mind we are a lot more experienced and there are players who will experiment in the non standard roles for their chosen class. This is simply to help those who are undecided in choosing their class for Classic WoW for PvE content. There are alternative options for the above classes, choose what suits you and your playstyle and most importantly have fun!
There are uses for a Feral Offtank in raid, at least the private server players have found some. We’ll have to see how it works out in Classic compared to other versions of vanilla.
To be fair, it is a good way to describe it for new players. But I wouldn’t suggest planning out your character based on what you’re going to raid with to a new player, either. That’s looking a couple thousand steps ahead, you have a few hundreds of hours of adventure you need to progress through before you get to raiding.
The fastest 1-60 speed level in vanilla WoW was 4 days, 20 hours /played.
I created what I thought would be a cool raid composition based on what Esfand showed on stream, but tweaked to be more fun.
Although, would need to spread out the Hunters so groups 4, 5 and 6 would have Trueshot Aura. Probably only need 3 then, pick up another Rogue I’d say.
My classic raid group is going to look similar to this.
6-8 Warriors. 2 Prot, rest fury.
5-6 Priests. 1 Shadow, 4+ healery specs
5 hunters. All ranged build
4 druids. 1 feral tank, 1 Balance druid 2 resto
5 shamans. 2 enhance, 3 resto
5-6 locks.
5-6 rogues.
5-6 mages 1 frost at all times.
That should give me good coverage of buffs and debuffs while maintain enough of the tools/dps/sustain required to kill all encounters from lucifron to Kel’Thuzad.
